I know it's cold but my heater in car is really slow to get warm,does anyone else have this or do you think there's something wrong with it

Could just be, are you blasting the fan whilst driving? My old B used to take about 5-6 miles to get to temp on fan no 2. Its best to put it on 1 whilst driving or nothing whilst its idling on the driveway.

As the faster the heater fan is the longer it takes as basically its cooling the engine coolant.

Yea i usually have it on 2 when it's idling, you think i should try 0 or 1 and see if it does it abit quicker?

aye put it on 1 or 0 whilst warming up, I think in these temperatures mine never got to 90 degrees on 2.

The engines don't generate enough heat really, my 2.5L fully warms up even in these temperatures in about 1 mile

My Astra mk4 is fine, 3 minutes running on full blast at the screen on the drive while I clear the screen and then drive 2 or 3 miles at 30 and by then its warm enough to have on 2 on screen/feet to warm the car up - this is in -5 > -15 conditions. Would say you have a problem somewhere if its taking that long to even get warm let alone hot

It's more likely to be the thermostat stuck open imo, so the coolant's constantly flowing through the rad therefore can't get upto temp, mine did it a few years back but when it was like that it'd take at least 15 mins for the temp gauge to get up near 90 degrees and if you went on a motorway within a minute or 2 you'd be getting cold air again and the temp gauge would drop off the scale, so realistically it's more likely to be having the blowers on that's the problem. Just leave them off, they're only blowing cold anyway then when it's getting around 90 degrees turn them on and you should be laughing

Call me stupid but i dont quite get how having the heaters on 2 instead of 1 will make it take longer to heat up.The engine is still going to get hot no matter what.
My Puma takes about a mile of driving to get warm wether it be on number 1 or 2.Cant say ive noticed 1 single bit of difference no matter what number its on.

Because the fan blows through the heater matrix.
Hot air leaves the engine and enters the interior, where it travels through the matrix then returns to the engine. If you are blowing a fan on the matrix, the air returning the engine is cooler and needs heating up again.
It shouldn't affect it massively but it will make a difference. If you have the fan on full whack in these conditions you will notice a delay to heat up.

Cover half the rad with cardboard, should help it run a bit warmer

Mine's taking ages to warm up at the moment as well, glad it's not just me

All my cars have taken a hell of a lot longer. Try driving with non on at first, and then put them on number 2, then full blast, and see what happens.

What I've been doing is leaving it off for a bit, then putting it on 1 until it starts feeling warm, then put it on recirculating mode as then it's heating warm air instead of -5C air or whatever it is outside. Sometimes have to flick it onto the windscreen for a min to de-mist but it gets a lot warmer inside so it's all good

I had this problem in my Mondeo, it was down to a knackered thermostat (always stayed in the 'cold' area on the gauge) and the heater control cable was broken.
Garage changed the thermostat, I changed the heater cable, now my car is roasty toasty again.

Other possible problem is that the snow on the panel under windscreen, where the air is taken form, so this will be super cold and zapp any heat provided by the engine.
Clear this away first to air flow, rather the sucking though frozen water.

This happened to me this morning too, followed by a massive overheating (on the temp gauge).
Am I right in thinking this could be a frozen waterpump issue too?
