Yh , bt u think I could fit my standard key blade in it? Does any1 no if there is a hole in the botom of the key blade?

i had a new vaux flip key with a mk4 astra blade fitted a few years ago , it was a right cunt to do and didnt last long, waste of time tbh

there is a hole the old blade slots in, the mk4 astra in had to be trimmed to fit as it as fatter, not really easy to do on something so small,

may give that a go, my key is the flat straight edged style that comes on the flip keys normally

Probably fits better iirc you have to shave parts of the key case on this guide, but principals should be the same, may get an old key case from a breakers for fre if they have any lying around, i recently got 4 for my van lol, converting my caddy key to flip type

yes there is a way to get the blade off.

i took my key apart last night and tbh there isent anything to it lol i thought there would be a chip or summut to tell the car if you get what i mean but its just the key blade and thats it, so i think it would be stright forward

In my project thread is from when I did mine. Got the key off ebay, some can be expensive though! So be careful what you buy.

It's the brand new keys on the astras etc just converted. I could steal one from work if I wanted, but I'm no theif. They're about £30 second hand if you can find them.

Also saw your "conversion" Haimsey and it inspired me to try it, gonna give it a go soon =D

would this work with the immobiliser keys? Is there a slot to put the immob chip in?

yes as all the cars that have these keys as standard have immob chips

How come u have hacked away at the caseing mate? Is it needed ? Thought u grinde the square bit of the key off or is that bit needed ?

I had to modify the casing due to the shape of the blade near the top. But it can be done carefully so it doesn't look messy.
The top end of the blade has to be ground down to fit in the 'flippy' bit of the new key.

In that guide it shows that he has shaved the key rite down, doesn't this efect the key working in the ignition?

The blade in the part that comes into contact with the ignition isn't touched.

Saying that, I've had no issues with mine

Yano the bit u have cut the bit out for the key to fit? We'll on the guide the chap has shaved that rite down if u no what I mean lol if anyone gets me lol
