had some new tyres on a couple of days ago, come to take wheels off and the bolts are done up fucking solid
they must have used an air gun, first it did this to my 1/2" > 3/8" adapter

then it even bust my 1/2" extension bar

got them off in the end but my torque wrench was clicking at its maximum 300nm so it was more torque then that, fucking ridiculous, they are only meant to be 100nm, is it even worth me ringing up to complain?

I got a new SRi alloy for my C out of Vauxhall for this as I still couldn't get the bolts loose with 300nm. They ended up having to cut the wheel from the hub

Not worth your time ringing to complain.
Generally and airgun won't tighten it over 300nm
And you were asking for that 3/8th step down to be broken anyway.
Always use 1/2inch for stuff like that.

Airguns generally don't tighten bolts that tight anyway, you should (or they should) always torque them up to the correct nm afterwards anyway.
Some monkey might have tightened them with the torque wrench too tight, I'd be on the phone to them regardless.

It's not a problem tightening them with an airgun, they get torqued up later anyway, the only one you shouldn't put on with an airgun, or take off with one is the locking wheel nut.

Place near me doesnt do them up with the air gun any more.
They once did the same to my old corsa. In the end we had to use a jack to lift the ratchet to undo the bolt. With someone on the brakes (with the engine running) to stop the wheel spinning.

My tyre place uses an air gun, no issues here. I also use one @ Lemass and never had any issues.

Some airguns can be regulated to a certain torque im sure
Maybe its just your ladies arms?
Tyre places tend to always use a torque wrench or gun set to the torque as their doing it numerous times every hour everyday

I have torque sockets for the airgun that only let you do up to the specified torque with the air gun. Nice and quick

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

1/2 inch gear and 4foot breaker bar,
Makes easy time of most bolts, and bit of steam pipe just in case it doesn't budge it.
