Right now after searching for a new car etc i've narrowed it down to the Octavia VRS Diesel and the Fabia.

The main decision on which one will come from how much cash i can get for a new car, 8K will get me a decent Octavia but 6k will get me a very good Fabia BUT i'd be wanting to modify the Fabia in more ways than just remapping etc. They do a limited edition 07 plate blue Fabia VRS with full leather etc which still come in around the 7K mark so i'm still not sure.

I'm thinking of going for a look like this...

Plus maybe some Octavia brakes and ARB.

Working with a Skoda dealer i have access to parts and most of all about 7 techs who can fit bits for me in the workshop plus i'll get the car for a lot cheaper than the norm.

We've had Fabia's in the past that have been mapped and they just seem to blow there turbos Is there an 'Easy' route to take with a cheap ish new turbo that can be relaible? For example do Awesome GTI etc do a map that the car can take for 50K without blowing it's cloggs?

Remap 312s and rarb make a massive difference.

Special edition doesn't have xenons

I couldn't find a very good fabia for 6k when I was looking.

In work John we have access to the dealer networks so i can get a nice one for 6K or even less!

You could spec any fabia with heated seats and Zenons but they are very rare mate

Couldn't spec the limited edition one at all, doesn't have cruise either iirc (although this can be easily added).

Oh righty... Well TBH i'd rather use the extra cash i'd save buying a normal one over a special edition to mod it

I think they can look awsome

They've besically the same engine as my mates old Ibiza and engine wise his was mapped with the bigger downpipe and pd150 airbox and his produced 180bhp/370lbft. Very quick car for a diesel.

This one looks superb

I opted for a non-SE vRS then paid £850 for a full leather retrim (which I prefer to the SE leather). It's cheaper that way and you can get one with optional extras.

I regret not holding out for a vRS with xenon's but meh...

What exactly do you want to do to it? It's cost me about £4k to get to 220-230bhp but that could have been done a lot cheaper, I just went for new parts and stuff.

My dad had a fabia vrs and i was impressed with it as i'd never drove a diesel before it. Only thing i would check was the gearbox as we heard they have a tendancy to go wrong at times.

Only a shit map will blow the turbo (or someone who doesn't look after it).

A map, 312mm brakes, coilovers, decat, will change the car loads.

Edit, gearboxes are fine, Ive only heard of 2 'going' and thats the selector fork cos he abuses the car so much

The torque sounds a bit optimistic tbh, I won't even be that with stage 2 hybrid PD150, FMIC, SMF and an aggressive map (expecting around 330ft/lb), that's a lot of torque to run through standard clutch and DMF if it really is 370ft/lb

Yeah I'll be another one to say gearboxes, both Ibiza Sport TDi's I had (same engine/box/underpinnings) had some form of gearbox issue

With a hybrid PD150 turbo, it should be at LEAST 360lb/ft of torque, more like 380

Loads of hybrid 150 owners, Paul at RS tuning has knocked out loads with figures of 230bhp and 380lb/ft on Ibiza's, golfs, bora's, etc

I only ever got 47 at best as standard so there's now way you could get a proper 50!

44-45 is about right
