As we all know fuel prices are soaring, and been young its hard to run a car especially when i drive 10 miles to work and 10 mile back. So im thinking about getting rid of the corsa and buying a diesel. Iv had a look on pistonheads and found a quite high milage 306 TD S,not sure what the S stands for mind you. Has anyone got any previous with these?are they orite or just the same as every other french crap?

For that sort of mileage, the extra cost of Diesel wont outweigh the cost of running a petrol.
Good cars the Dturbo.Free tuning too and can run a safe 1.2bar boost.Go like fuk too.

No i mean the mileage that you do for work.
I would still have 1 regardless.

You dont do enough miles for it to be worth spending the extra on a diesel. If you can get a cheap one, or something like a pug 106 xnd then I'd do it.

For the mileage you do unless your Corsa is costing you money to repair it is a false economy to sell a perfectly good car, buy another car (which could be an absolute dog and cost you an arm and a leg) on the hope of saving money with your MPG.
Also, your Corsa will warm up (therefore reach peak efficiency) faster than a diesel, which in 10 miles might not even start getting warm, so I would be surprised if you could actually achieve decent MPG on your normal commute

Drive around the potholes or put standard springs on then? Saves on your insurance too

Simple answer, standard springs back in and use the money you get for selling the lowering springs to help pay fuel/insurance.

Milage isnt a problem with these easily run past 200k+. Being a DTS it should have half leathers etc?
Get a bosch on it and run veggie for the savings or else it really isnt worth changing from the corsa tbh. Easy and cheap to tune as well £200 quid will get you 150+ bhp.

Surely you can't just fit a bosch on it? The pipes, pressure and mechanical drive will be different unless they changed from/to a bosch at some point?
I've got 60L of stuff here

You clearly don't know how to tune a XUD9TE then! There is more than one screw to adjust and the cold running screw needs backing off once you increase the fuel. Then also need to increase the boost to give more air to burn the more fuel you put in.
Done right it's a great cheap car to run. I've had two. And a 206 GTi. Both cars considerably better than the two Vauxhalls I've owned. But let's not go there
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Erm quite easily...get the bosch injectors and lines as well obviously. Get the lot from the scrappy for £50ish. If youve got the skills to do cambelts its straight forward tbh.

From a 306 Dturbo.
They fitted the Lucas pumps and Bosch pumps to them.Think the early pumps were Bosch items. They are the easiest to adjust the fueling with too.Just a screw and remove the on boost fuel float.Takes all of 10mins.Mid range pull with the fuelling upped is awesome.
Mines was running 1.2 bar just from upping the fuel. Was a wee bit smokey(still mot passable) and went like fuk.

Are you saying this from experience or have you just listened to what the internet says?

do not take the pug 306 DTS to an interview for a job, if you have to get suited n booted.
unless u want to look like you've had your left foot up a donkeys ass and got it stuck.
