Ive been looking into doing my training to get me offshore as theres fuck all here for me job wise ect ...
Done some search lastnight and sent a few emails regards traning, I understand that ill need to do my offshore survival & greenhand is there anything else i should look into?
any or as much info as possible would be great

Most companies will require you to have a valid medical certificate.

You may also require Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) But i'm not 100% on that one.

Basic certificates you are going to need are the:
MIST - compulsary for the North Sea (Jan 2011)
It's an online course and costs £64.50 - it's impossible to fail. Just google Minimum Industry Safety Training
BOSIET
Check out OPITO / Falck Nutec - £600 (ish)
UKOOA Medical - £95
In terms of jobs offshore theres so much you could get certificates for through OPITO. I'm currently looking to do my NEEBOSH and go down the HSE route.
Seems to be a requirement for Scaffolders just now?
Getting a job offshore is quite tough though. Unless you have previous experience or have done an apprenticeship it's a case of who you know and being in the right place at the right time.

This is true, I had to do MIST at Falck Nutec as I had done no offshore time. 2 day course, utter shite.
BOSIET is a reasonable course though.

MIST replaced greenhands did it not? I only had to do MIST online cbt so dont know if it covers same stuff as greenhands.
Il second what colin said about opito, I did the same trai ing.
Think its still really hard for people without a trade for getting offshore and alot of people waste money by doing courses then get nowhere

Ive been seriously thinking about applying for this kind of thing.
Colin, does this apprenticeship have to be done in Scotland? Or are their other places (north west england) to train up?
Im a time served Production Engineer with BAE Systems btw, im not just trying to waste your time 
I've got quite a good C.V aswell, Apprentice of the year etc.

1st 2 years is spent in either Aberdeen, Falkirk, Edinburgh or Teesside depending on what route you go. Then 2yrs at location Offshore Aberdeen, Hull or maybe if your unlucky theres a chance of an onshore gas terminal for 2yrs.

Would have to massivley change my life to do it then, and i doubt the first 2 years wage would be enough for me to rent a place and live off.

You get put up in digs & given a living allowance as well as some pocket money for beer & petrol. I quite enjoyed doing the training looking back, just wish I done it when I was 16 instead of 24!!

Really  might apply and just see what happens.
I look back on my apprenticehip now and wish i could start all over again so many good stories to tell the kids.

Just read your a times served production engineer...........some how I skipped past that before!!
Scrap the apprenticeship you're probably 90% there already, just lacking some specific cert's!!! Just apply for jobs mate, oilcareers.com, just maybe do your survival & medical!!!
I'm guessing you've got S/NVQ Level 3 & an HNC????

Yea NVQ level 3.
Didnt do HNC, i did my ONC and then did a VRQ which is more practical based (CNC programming, advanced machining etc) I wish i had done the HNC now though as firms only really seem to look at academic qualifications. Even though there were other lads in my year that were completley fucking useless but did their HNC.
I was looking on there but i didnt even know what i would be applying for?

Is it production engineer as in a process plant kinda thing? But see you mentioned cnc maching which confused me a bit.
I was on £90 a week (including travel allowance) and had my digs and meals paid for so £90 was for my dinners, travel to college and travel home at weekends (60miles)

That transformation training programme on opito.com looks to be the thing i need:
