Hi folks,

I've had my ep3 for a year and a half now and I really need to get the paint fade sorted... (sadly I didn't even notice it when I bought it )

I've tried polishing (manually) and had absolutely no luck whatsoever

Today Rob R even tried giving it a quick polish with a polishing machine and although it removed all swirls it unfortunately didn't bring the colour back

I don't want to rule out any other options before considering a re-spray... what else should I try?

Oh and a quick vid of mine this evening before bed time Civic Type R, launch control and drive by

Thanks in advance

I may be thinking of a different car,but im sure i read somewhere that once the Milano red EP3's have faded, there's no bringing it back without a spray job as it fades under the laquer.

Pretty sure yours will be basecoat+laquer? Not the old 2pac paint on the vauxhalls. Stillthought try 'g3 compund' with a machine polisher. Pretty hardcore stuff soi would try a friendly bodyshop and see if the can give it a buzz over. If the swirl stuff you used was for fine swirl marks then it would make no difference at all.
If you were Kent I would happily give it a crack for you, wouldn't take long and probably cost about 5p in materials, but not many people who aren't in repair would have the compond I would have thought

Why do you keep bouncing off the limiter after youve launched?

You can't restore the faded Honda paint. The pigment in the colour is shite along with the UV protection in the lacquer. Respray is the only way.

Rob R has already had a go, the paint is notoriously soft so using harsh compounds wouldnt be advisable. Rich has pointed out as it is laqured the paint fades underneath thus needing a respray, no amount of polishing will solve it.

Judging by how Honda have wriggled their way out of any form of warranty claims on 99% of the later Civics being peppered in stonechips after a few thousand miles, I very much doubt it!

Just one of those things unfortunatly.
Respray is onlyway.
Honda bumpers on the other hand are meant to be a different colour as are the plastics.

they probably do the same as ford and use powder paint on the bumpers which aren't painted in the same place as the cars.

If I was buying a Rolls Royce and it arrived with different coloured bumpers and plastics then they would not be getting any of my money

Nearly all cars have different plastics. But with Honda they are meant to be. We were told that in training

Yea looks as though respray is the only way the road was greasy that's why it was hitting the limiter so much

A bit of limiter is fine every now and then

Not too sure if this helps mate but when I got my corsa it was not far off pink, I gave it a couple layers off auto glym paint renovator, few layers of polish and I quite often use zymol wax as it's was easy to apply just abit chalky, but I would give the paint renovator a go mate, did wonders for my corsa and when I was done the paint was like new and last for around 6-9 months
