So let me get this straight.....

A 125bhp Corsa C Sri would be on par with a Vts,maybe a tad slower,not much in it,yet a Vts is just as quick to 100 as 150bhp XE Corsa,which would tear a C Sri a new 1.

How does that work??

Yeah sorry SRi wouldn't be on par with VTS, wouldn't be much in it in the real world.

They don't all have half leather and cruise control was an option.

With a mixture of granny driving and giving it some now and then the lowest I've really had it is 30mpg. Long runs and lots of granny driving will see 36mpg+.

and a lovely website that is

The VTS is more 'nimble', lighter and they are a very nice free reving engine. The VTS is going to win but at least in the C the pedals aren't offset to the left, it'll idle properly and you won't look much like a chav

gear linkages are a common fault on C's, check it goes into 1st, 2nd and reverse alright.
In fact here is a thread on CCUK that might be of help,

My 1.8 sri C is stupidly greedy! But you can't have economy and power mate. (What power they have )

They are nothing special. Mate of mine has a 106 gti, (allbeit it is tuned and got 150bhp) and it wipes the floor with my car.
