If you're over 25.

I may be wrong, but I *think* it's now impossible to find.

It's 24 Rich, I tried to get it the other day and was told this.

Bell did it as an add on a couple of year ago for FC drivers of any age, not so sure nowadays though

Over 25 now used to be 21 but no one offers it unless you get an extortionate traders policy

When I was on a provisional in 2009 with Quinn the insurance certificate said "The policy holder may drive other vehicles with third party cover, providing permission is obtained from the registered owner and the vehicle is insured" and I was 17

Ah that probably explains it then because I was with them. Probably explains why they're £2,000 more than everyone else too

As said but I was once done for no insurance and found out insurers dont allow you to drive other cars on fc no more unless 25 or over. Quinn allows you though

You are only allowed this if it says on your policy, it's always been like that.

Very few insurers do it, did quinn not stop it recently?

quinn sent me a letter saying i wouldnt be able to drive any other car anymore when i was with them. im now fully comp with cooperative insurance and they allow me to drive any other car im 22 but was 21 when i took policy out but im sure theres no age limit

just looking at my insurance docs now and it does say the policy holder may also drive a motor car not belonging to him etc but doesnt say any age.

That would mean you could then, if they hadn't sent you a letter saying otherwise.

I would be reading the small print for those companies allowing it to under 25s.

I know with Quinn it stated you must have a full E.U Licence to be covered to drive another car.I only noticed this after i got fuked and 6 points for no insurance a few years back. Thanks to the cowboys at Quinn.

It's in the small print for EVERY company above that you must be over 25 to have it.

Best thing is to ring and ask.

Quinn stopped it.

There is no such thing as a minimum age. Every company will have their own terms. It just happens to be the majority are over 25 now days.

i have always been FC and only had this on my insurance since turning 25, i forget which one (of the two policies i have) but i had to ask for it be be included.

what is odd is that Aviva don't require the car to be insured. I was looking for a new motor for the gf and wanted to take it for a test drive. however i knew it was uninsured so phoned Aviva and Direct Line (my two current providers) asking if they could cover me. DL said no the car has to be insured by someone else before i can drive it. Aviva said providing i had the owners permission i would be insured under their policy

My T's and C's say that it HAS to be insured and not owned by me or my partner!

That aviva thing would mean you can't get out of the car on A public road or the owner could technically be done for it being uninsured.

When I was with Quinn (4 years ago) it did say in the small print that you could drive any car 3rd party however in a different section near the end it basically said you had to be over 25.

I know my elephant policy said the same, my admiral policy does too. In reality though, why would any company offer that to people under 21/25. Most will still live at home and the likelyhood is their parents will own something faster and newer than them.
