Im wanting a watch for my birthday and have a budget of £350-400.

I like the tag heuer designs and breitleg but obv they are well out of my price range. Do you know of any other examples or brands that do similar styles.

I prefer dark watches rather than bright silver and i like 'aircraft' face look with the hands and stuff.

Edit: i mean a nice watch, not the kind that changes the tv channel.

The CW watches are starting to get expensive now compared to where they started from.

Have a browse on tz-uk.com for ideas

I absolutely love Fossil watches.

Okay, they don't have the same sort of reputation or pedigree, but some of their designs are awesome and they're nice and cheap..

I disagree about tags, terrible quality, especially the straps unless you get one from higher up the range.

That watch is not nice anyway

I have a Tag F1 (chrono) and its very good quality IMO

My other one is better - the higher end ones are better

Plenty of other good makes though

Only one I hate is rolex as the design is not nice and have a stupid ego to go with them

Whats the difference between say a 30quid watch and a 500quid watch??

Is theyr a difference between the way they tell the time etc??Is the expensive watch more accurate??

a cheap watch tends to have Micky Mouse's dislocated arm telling you what hour it is

TBF I can't see the point in proper expensive watches. I'd never go for a £30 cheapy as the quality will be shite, but £60-100 range will get something nice looking and long lasting.

Beyond that its going for the badge. Fair play if you've got the cash I guess.

depends on the mechanics

I have a Quartz crystal and an automatic one

i prefer the automatic one and when you start to pay serious money you get better movement which are as accurate as Quartz

Wrong mate

If you get the ones with the calibre movement they really are a masterpiece and shoudl always keep good money

Watches are like anything

You get one that is functional or spend more and get a better watch - just like a car, TV, Laptop etc

i love watches and have no issues spending money on them

Other people like to modify cars and spend money on that - each to their own

I love watches, started buying more recently. Prefer subtle ones that go with shirts more than the big in your face ones though. Bought another Longines one last week.

I love watches, I was having a look at a Longines one the other week, I don't normally pay much attention to them but they've got amazingly thin automatics.

A £100 watch compared to a half decent >£500 will not be anywhere as near long lasting.

You also get complete guff that costs way over £500 though so it just depends.

I've had a rather unhealthy obsession with watches since I was a kid. Currently have a Omega Speedmaster Day/Date as my daily wear and a Rolex Sea Dweller Deepsea for smart however I thinking of changing it for a Panerai PAM 00161 if I can ever find one!
