I'm needing some parts made up for rear wing uprights. 2 for now but with scope for more if the 2 work
I'm thinking 8mm aluminium sheet in the following design
Knocked up a couple of diagrams, some roughly in CAD
Does anyone do this as a job, or know someone that can do it?

Would also like to know,
As I have a fair few bit's I'd like cut out at some point,
I did have a google and a lot of places will do it, and if you can do your own cad drawing it puts the cost down greatly.

I wouldn't have sharp corners; that's where your inherent weak points will be; the cut out should have radiused corners. 5mm will be sifficient but any cracking will start at that point

Bit too thick for laser cutting if you want it done in alloy.. Water cutting will a safer bet and its generally cheaper.

I thought about machining the side plates in by 1.5mm per side; set out 5mm from the extremity of the cut outs and filleted; took each one down by 90grams, from 465g to 375g

at the moment the wing supports are towards the centre of the wing blade (1800mm or so) and secured on the boot lid.
The boot lid is GRP with an aluminium angle bar brace underneith to support the wing.
The new uprights are to be mounted on the rear 1/4s (tabs welded on with two holes for fixing the new uprights to). This will allow all the downforce to but transferred to the chassis rather than just deflecting the frame and boot skin!
The wing will also be in-line or above the roof line to be more effective

potentially a lot of side forces acting on the wing but that said 6mm Alloy shouldn't shear, its more likely to bend noticeably.
One way to find out!! Do it; then get 8 if it needs it

the X wire should prevent any shear as it'll be tethered to the 'base' welded tab onto rear 1/4
