It bolts up but sits about 2" proud at the hinge side when it's closed.

That's quite weird, does that mean that the wings are different as well?

Looks like the hinges are, or we're doing something wrong.

I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any difference, as i've swapped pre with post before, but found it a right nightmare just lining it up to sit right.
Unless it depends on engine size? for differences with hinges?

sometime the hinges bend a little, or you need to adjust tightness at each end

Put the old one back on and it fits fine.
Best guess is that the other bonnet was damaged when it was removed, could have been twisted on the hinges when it was taken out.

Can't see how that would cause it to sit up high, where did you get the new one from?

The other one was just another we had lying about.
Was only swapping to avoid having to sand off blackboard paint from the current one.

Theyre all the same as far as i know, must be something up with a new one. But yeah they can be a nightmare to adjust sometimes, spesh if the hinges are worn up

Mate, it's eaten about 5 sheets of sandpaper and is still rougher than a gang of scouse joyriders.
It's going to primer tomorrow so hopefully it'll build it enough to take it up at a lower grade. No doubt the progress thread will tell all

That would be the crap standard paint, covered in a layer of my finest spray can job, and finally topped up with blackboard paint applied with a radiator roller then! Should have just kept the blackboard paint, would have made for an easier job
So it's getting paint tomorrow? And colour on Tuesday? Then two days/nights to get it built up, should be fun!
