My petrol car is quick and could do nearly 50mpg if I could be bothered to drive behind a lorry on a motorway.
My diesel is slow and gets shit mpg, the 1.9JTD engine is shit. But then it is a van and not a car version.
I'd probably be happy owning an Ibiza Cupra 1.9 or Skoda vRS derv though.

I would rather get 8mpg than drive around in something that sounds like a tractor tbh. Don't do enough miles to care about mpg.

My Petrol car did a massive 1,200 miles last year. My Diesel did 40,000.

I have both and tbh the diesel is a hell of a lot better than the petrol for what I use it for. £40 of petrol will see me 200 miles max in the golf. I'll see near double that in the diesel. The fiesta isn't exactly a slouch either and it can easily throw itself about on the bends. Yes it sounds like a van but I don't really care lol.

200 miles to £40 in an R32 doesnt sound too bad!
diesels have come a long way from what they used to be like.
adiohead you could not get 50mpg in your cupra ! come off it!
if your diesel is slow AND gets shit mpg, theres something wrong with it seriously!
i want to know why BMW havent yet made a mini cooper SD. that would be interesting. althought i dont like the cooper S's anyway.

I was always under the impression everything but the engine in Fiat JTD models was shit, the diesel multijet was meant to be rather good?
500 miles a week just commuting, you have to give a shit about mpg

Wouldn't mind a free one. Can't see me ever buying one though. I'd buy a prius first.
