Basically to cut a long story short, the missus has has a minor car crash.

She was parked in a full car park. When she returned to her car some idiot had parked horizontally behind where she and 3 other cars were parked , hence making it very hard to reverse out ... She was reversing at a very slow speed, doing about a 10 point turn to get out the space, when she clipped the old Peugeot 106. It made a small dent on the wing. Numbers were exchanged etc, and the guy said he would get s quote from a garage.

The next day he was requesting £900, as he needs a new wing and now front bumper etc...

He is saying he's booked it in for June, which gives her time to save.. I told her to text him telling him to GTF and go through insurance as her excess is £300.. (bearing in mind this dent can probably be pushed out for £30)

He doesn't want to go through insurance and is telling her it will put her renewal up etc so she's best to pay cash..

Is there a time limit he has to claim on insurance? The small accident happened about 9 days ago, and he was parked incorrectly!

Should I tell her to ring insurance, or leave it and ignore the tosser? They haven't exchanged address or number plates ..

Ring insurance.

Doing it outside of this means you have no legal leg to stand on and people start creating wild figures of £900 to pop a dent out.

Ring insurance asap

It's probably too late as he said he needs a new bumper too...

There is no damage at all to her saxo! Not even a scratch

Thats pretty lucky. crashing a saxo and it not being written off
But yeh dont pay anything 900 is rubbish. he wont want to go through insurance as he knows he wont get any spending money and i can garentee if he is asking for that amount for a dent he probably wouldn't fix it anyway.

Get your missus to ring her insurance company asap and report the incident. Next go to the polic and report the incident and state that there were no injuries at the scene. If you ignore it you could be accused of leaving the scene of an accident.

Tell the other party that you will only go through insurance end of, then sit back and wait.

I bet you they dont even have insurance hence why they are making a fuss.

Possibly, it's just she'll lose all her no claims, and £300 excess for a dent that could of been pushed out for £30!

Txt him and ask for his reg was you want to check price on parts, then just hand it over to the insurance company. Seeing as you describe it as a dent chances are it wont be a substancial claim.

If you are personally not claiming there is no excess to pay.

Phone the guy and ask for the reg, say you're going through insurance.

If he doesn't give it then he's probably not insured and you won't lose anything.

Yea deffo call your insurance. Tell this guy to GTF. He's either not insured or has no intention of fixing car and wants to make some quick cash.

And tbh the guys phone number will be enough for the insurance company. They will ring him and request details.

If I was doing it outside of insurance I would have to see quotes for the work and want to pay for it directly myself. Wouldn't trust others for shit

This is the exact reason i would take pictures of the other car if i was involved in a small car-park bump.

Tell him you NEED his number plate as you are going to let the insurance deal with it and under no circumstances are you doing it on the side.If he tells you it,check it yourself on askmid.
If he dosn't,just ignore him.

He was probably planning to just buy another 106 with the 900quid and take a holiday abroad with the change.

I'd just ignore it tbh. You have every right to go through your insurance rather than paying out of your own pocket and getting ripped off. If he doesn't report it to his own insurance company then thats his problem not yours. As said he might not even be insured if he's getting funny about it.

If he doesn't hand over his registration, then tell him to fuck off What will he do then? Clearly doesn't want the authorities involved!

Let him call the insurance company. I doubt he is insured to be honest. Basically the same thing happened when I rolled into a new s3. The guy was like I don't really wanna go through insurance blah blah. I told him to call me to sort it all out through insurance. That was in febuary and haven't heard a thing since.
