Reliability wise I think they're pretty strong, it's usually sensors etc. that cause most issues, AFM, EGR valve and crank sensor seeming to be the worst from my experience.

Crank sensor can be had for £20ish, AFM for a tonne, and EGR is about £120, all genuine from Autovaux, you can pretty much double all of those at least if you go direct to Vauxhall.

The oil breather system isn't the best either so ideally when serviced, give the throttle body a clean up too to get rid of all the oil in there but that's only 3 screws gets the top hat off then spray some carb cleaner in there so no biggy.

I've never driven a 12v though so can't comment on the rest

Put it this way, Mine has done 180k or so, Still runs OK, Just starting to go wrong lol

Shaun speaks the truth though, 43/45mpg is the min I've got, Got about 58mpg on a run.

They are slow, But perfect around town, and Will do 90mph.

Ive replace 3 of these engines now due to excessive oil consumption, i cant remember how many oil presure sensors aswell, but could be to do with the drivers, they were all thrashed to the nuts

Mine runs sweet as a nut but it should with 15k on it. Cruises happily at 90 too. Think I've nearly had 100 out of it but I got bored waiting haha. They are very slow thou, sound pretty epic with a drilled airbox on I've turned quite a few heads when putting my foot down.

Was driving my 1.0L 12v for 3 1/2 years and it never broke down once. I never had any real problems with it at all.

The rattle is from the cam chain, the 1.2s sound the same.

Had 1 for about 2-3mths and would never have another.Yeah it was ok on fuel when pottering about. But to go anywhere remotely quick you need to really kick its hole in.And it still didn't move.

The noise they make is awful, even with a drilled airbox they sound shit.

In all honesty if i wanted a car that was cheap to run etc,i would have another Ford Ka.Good on fuel, and pretty nippy and cheap to insure.

I've had mine 6 months and just had to change the camshaft sensor but apart from that really reliable, don't expect to go anywhere fast though lol
