Just after a bit of info really, If I were to start a eBay shop etc, would I need to register with Companies House and such? Might seem a retarded question but I'm generally unsure.
I have sourced a silly cheap supplier of the products I want to sell. Final question would be is it worth it?

Ta all

Whatever the product is, if you're getting it insanely cheaper than elsewhere, be sure to check they're not counterfeit. I know a member on here (no names) got in trouble for selling counterfeits which he thought were legit.

They aren't claiming to be branded or an imitation. Just cheap imported stuff

Is it worth it?

Depends what you reckon you'll make I guess. I couldn't deal with the hassle eBay gives on everything now. The buyer has all the rights, sellers seem to get shafted on everything now.

If you think you could put up with that stuff and could make a decent amount, then go for it

Don't have to register with Companies House as a sole trader, though it's worth seeing if your company name is available to register for future use. Only when you need to go LTD do you need to register.

Ebay are shites nowadays so i'd look at running your own site too and try to build it up alongside.

No/maybe. Only have to registerand file accounts at companies house if its a limited company.

You would be easier to set up and administer as a sole trader.

Any extra income should be declared to HMRC so they can rob/tax you accordingly.

Being self employed is so easy to implement.

All you people on here moaning about having to register for self employment/self assessment etc. try setting up a limited company and getting VAT registration - now THAT is a fucking pain in the ass!

If I were you Chris I would try selling some items from your personal account first, that way if it doesn't pan out like you expected it to then you won't have gone to the trouble of registering as self employed etc.

I bought mine set up and VAT reg'd. Lot simpler/time effective imho.

In fairness to them, they are making PAYE and VAT less of a pain with online filing.
