I've got an old 1.9 Diesel polo I'm running on new vegi oil.
It probably runs smoother now, does smell a bit and is a little harder to get started when the engine is cold.
I'm still getting over 50 mpg and its costing £1 a litre.

Used to run my astra van on a 50/50 mix. Nearly a pound a litre for veg oil but still a fair saving.
Mine used to smoke a bit with it and was obvious to the smell.

never done it myself, but ive heard mixed reviews on it
some people say a 50/50 mix works well, others say the any veg oil put in the diesel causes blockages in the fuel pumps and injectors - mainly in newer cars?
my mates dad apparently ran his diesel BMW on a 50/50 mix of aviation fuel and veg oil, said it went like stink

Older things are good with it, i.e Pug 405's etc...Newer stuff I wuddnt bother, Fuel pumps etc, - Your go through fuel filters every so often, it'll stink aswell.

I know somebody who use to do this in a e92 320d Too much money for me to mess around with tbh.
To be safe, get some older and non turbo. Old pugs/citreon and vw spring to mind.

no point unless you can get cheap or free waste veg oil but then you have the hassle of filtering it and storing it.
The price of veg oil means this just isn't worth the trouble compared to what it used to be imo.
I ran a mk 1 mondeo td on 100% svo for a year with no probs back when veg oil worked out at 60p/litre.

I put used hydraulic oil in my 1.5 TD Corsa, works a treat.
I mix it 50/50ish, so works out 65p a litre

I put a tank of biodiesel (the proper stuff from a pump in North London) in the Ibiza once, ran like a bag of beans. Went back to diesel and it was fine.

I've researched the fuck out of this...
You need a car with a fuel pump that can take it usually a bosch/bosch copy.
The injectors should have some cleaner shit put through them first to make sure the veg oil atomises properly as its thicke than diesel.
An inline fuel heater puts less stress on the pump and injectors and also atomises the fuel better.
Change your oil maybe twice as often depending on the engine mileage, as the veg oil turns the engine oil into jelly eventually, as you always get a slight seepage past the piston rings.

A fuel/coolant water heat exchanger fuel heater is the best.

Also the veg oil will clean out your tank and lines so you NEED to change the fuel filter more often for the first few thousands miles.

I ran a td mondeo on pure veg oil with a splash of white spirit to give it an extra bang, wound the actuator out on the turbo a bit and it ran fine for me

I was hoping to be able to run biodiesel in my Ibiza when i got it but the handbook says in big letters not to use it.
Made my old 206 1.4hdi twice as quick but then the clutch started slipping
