United have got some rebuilding to do, VDS and Scholes (soon to be Giggs too) have all been important players even in the last couple of seasons.

Can't blame him really. I wouldn't want to have to go to Swansea either

"Good enough to play for Brazil. I love to watch Scholes, to see him pass, the boy with the red hair and the red shirt." - Socrates
"My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation." - Zinedine Zidane
"Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team – that goes to show how highly I have always rated him. An all-round midfielder who possesses quality and character in abundance." - Marcello Lippi
"I tell anyone who asks me – Scholes is the best English player." - Laurent Blanc
"Many great players have worn the shirt of Manchester United. Players I worshipped, then lost with my youth in Munich. Players like Denis Law and George Best who I enjoyed so much as team-mates and now, finally, players I have watched closely in the Alex Ferguson era. And in so many ways Scholes is my favourite." - Sir Bobby Charlton
"In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything." - Xavi

He couldn't tackle?
Bull shit, some of the best tackles I have ever seen ( in football terms) have come from Scholes. Ok most ended up with a red card

Probably the right time to go considering the relatively disappointing season he's had.
He must be one of the most understated players you will ever see too.
He's been immnse for the best part of the last 2 decades too. United Legend

Apparently he is going to be training the youths, I'll be quite happy if he starts producing some little Scholes' clones

knew it was coming, i used to love watching him play some of the balls he used to kick and land at people feet just what they need, and he could control the midfield very well
going to need another decent midfilder now
