Not trying to start a fanboy war, but i will be buying one or the other soon.
Ive already had two 360's so obviously have a lot of older 360 games as mine broke about 10 months ago, but i am moving to another country for a while so will be just buying mostly new games again. Are the newer 360's any better than the older ones and same goes for the PS3? I also have friends all over the place who have both so that doesnt really come into it as far as online gaming goes. The one benefit i can see is the bluray on the ps3.
I'm still 50/50 on which i should go for.......

xbox 360 has the better online service, ps3 has blu-ray, although, blu ray players are now available for less than £50..

I would just buy which ever one more of your mates have. They both play games at the end of the day.

examples of games?
The only xbox exclusives I own are Forza 2 & 3
I have far more ps3 exclusives.
(ps. I might be exaggerating like a fan boy. I have Uncharted, Uncharted 2, GT5, Infamous, Heavy Rain)

Just look at what you mates have, I've owned both, online is no better on either.
xbox has a few nice touches as does the ps3 with internet iplayer, blueray etc
ask your mates though if your planning on playing online

Problem being ive got a pretty even selection of mates who have both or one or the other lol do you still pay for xbox live and is PSN free ( not that this is a big issue, just curious ) and the RROD was kinda putting me off the xbox as this has happened to me twice now...looks like im gonna have to get both

Ive got an xbox and would choose it over a ps3 any day because more of my mates play xbox and I much prefer the controller, ps3 controllers feel cheap and nasty and too small.

All the above. I have both, PS3 40GB and Elite 120GB.
I wish my PS3 HDD was bigger, but this was all that was available at the time, I know you can change the HD but the amount of saves I can't be bothered.
I very rarely play online, mainly because other uses, GT5 being an example are idiots. Killzone was fun however. I refuse to pay for Live so just use the 360 for big offline games.

Never used/owned a PS3 (had a PS1 once upon a time), used to have an original Xbox but recently I bought an Xbox 360 secondhand off a friend.
I stripped it down and sorted the cooling problems out, just need to get a replacement DVD drive/new laser and it will be just like new.
I do like the look of the new 360 slim, but in my experience things that heat up in a very small space generally have more issues than things within a larger space (i.e. more airflow = better cooling).
Just try both and see which one you prefer more, who gives a shit what your friends have you're not a sheep are you?
