Not pissed on... but there is only 20bhp difference.

8v VTR means better at low revs.

GTi has the pull when proper speeds are achieved which is when it counts.

My gti rapes my mates vtr ALL the time in any gear/place Thats only upto 50-60 or so and the gti may have had a bad start etc etc Plus I have 17s and he is on 16s

to be honest tho - if was paying the extra insurance i wud want to be desimating the VTR - i dont know about u lot but i dont do much driving/racing at over like 50mph as i like the bends and what ever u are in u cant go to mental.

still i thought it shows the VTR to be quite nippy - i have no axe to grind as i have neither just thought it wud provoke discussion.

Shitloads cheaper

Wont keep up much past 50mph.... gti / vts engine out performs totally after 50mph, check Steves speedo video's

True,
The VTR will do OK, but the VTR has to change into third to hit 60 and the GTI will do 65 in 2nd.
Also the VTR being 8v doesn't have much high end power it's all low end torque.
Once the VTR hits 5000rpm it starts to run out of puff, the GTi will just be coming on cam at that point and start to perform.
So after 55-60 the GTi will start to steam away, at 100mph it should be 10 seconds ahead of the VTR.

Most cars are the same to 30MPH....My sport does the same thing all the time! Keeps up with them to 30MPH the the GTI's etc whip it!!
