Just been reading up on this topic about filtering traffic, used to be a bit of a grey area for a long time but after research seems to be high lighted that as long as the traffic is slow/stationary and there is sufficient room and your being cautious and safe you may do so.
I wear helmet and gloves every time i ride.
My every day vehicle is a quad now so as long as i'm being safe do you think i will get in trouble with the law??

lol, well it saves me about £50-200 a month on fuel, 200 on insurance, a little on tax, so the saving is quite a lot, was gonna go for full motorcycle licence but no point when i can ride up to a 600cc on a car licence. plus got the littlen so need to stop wasting money.

how are you going to filter through traffic on a quad? my cousin had one and it was quite a bit wider than a normal sportsbike. probably double the width.

You obviously can't fit through the same spaces as a bike can and you'll need to be well built because you'll aggravate car drivers trying to do it.
Quad's on the road are owned by neds 100% of the time from what I've seen so far.

it's not something i do usually but there is one route to work where there are 3 lanes, fairly wide lanes, and one of the lanes has a kind of gap in it to warn cars it's for a left turn.
Kind of like this

I'm no ned, hopefully me boxing ability may help with violent road rage drivers, it was simply the most practical way to stay mobile and save money. car was costing too much, and needed to spend at least £600-£1000 to obtain me bike licence, so the quad was smack bang in the middle so seemd stupid not to get one.

Surley you will just get tugged/reported for filtering on 4 wheels. Would be like trying to do it in a Smart Car.

Quads are a massive grey area, i've been stopped once in me home town just for a routine check, licence/mot/tax/insurance as they had never seen me before.
there not as big as you think, mines a 250cc and does not have a wide axle like alot of them do. mainly customised ones, filtered traffic this morning on this one strecth of road at 5 MPH no one needed to move so didn't seem to be a problem.

got some pics some where will sort it out later.
yer i'm not looking to filter traffic all the time.
had the quad since march and this morning was the first time i tried it, just because the gap was big enough for a car ( tho my quad is smaller ) so decided to filter it.

If you drive it on a car licence what makes you think you can use it like a bike?!?

it's not a hashed box, it's just an indication of the lane left turn only, looked it up.

If the gaps got cross hatchings on it, you cant cross it, it's the same as crossing a solid white line.

cars and bikes abide by the same highway code! signs, markings, so would make no differance what licence ya have.
