Picked this up last week, 1998 Seat Ibiza 2.0 16v. Its the same ABF engine which comes in the Mk3 Golf GTi 16v, 150bhp twin cam.
Parts are already being ordered, should have some bigish changes fairly soon!
It will eventually be caged, polybushed, better brakes etc. Power wise, it will see some different cams and headwork, along with standalone management which should get it to just shy of 200bhp, then at some point I will whack a 'charger on it for giggles at 230ish bhp.

Before;
During
After
Still need to get the stuck on sound deadening off, and strip the loom for any unessential parts. Tomorrow's jobs include sorting the blowing exhaust, take a look at the rear brake (think slider pins are stuck), get the tow strap on and maybe stick the battery in the boot if the box turns up.

Got some of the sound deadening off today,
Weapons of choice
My steering wheel boss came today, ordered the wheel too which may come in the morning. Seats should be here mon/tues. Will get the battery relocated tomorrow/sat.
I am having some brake issues though, got the o/s rear off and the slider bolt snapped, so bought a new carrier, chucked that on and I think the caliper may be seized. Need to have a look at the fronts too, as the o/s is getting much hotter than the n/s. I may just take them all off, re-furb them with new seals, bolts, etc, check them all over, paint them, braided lines, new pads and discs with some new fluid.

Successful weekend at GTi International, had 4 runs up the strip on Saturday, ran 7secs to 60mph, termnial at 15.6secs.
Stuck it on the handling circuit today, and me and 2 mates walked away with the team prize, individual I wasn't too far off the pace, decent tyres would help loads though!

The side mounts have various holes in them, so the seat can be moved, I fucked up on the placement for the drivers side rails, and the seat is as far back as it can go which is just right for me (I'm 6ft but have shortish legs)

I had a few cheeky laps of Donington on Monday evening, highlighted a few key areas for improvement,
- handling, rolls all over the place, coilovers should help reduce this, need to source a rear arb too
- brakes, were alright, just need a good overhaul I think
- tyres, the current sunny specials are rubbish, squeeling and understeering when I wasn't even pushing it too much
- engine, needs freeing up some more, decat should help this, along with a decent induction set up. Need to look into lightened flywheels too
There are 2 types of standard exhaust, one with the 2-1 collector and cat all in one piece and the other has a flange between the 2. I found one with the flange on, which allow me to use a bolt on decat, cheap on eBay so got it bought.
Heres my times from the weekend
And suspensions
I hope they fit, rears look ok, fronts look a tad short though.

The car is being built to MSA standard for circuit racing, as I might do a few races next year in it.

I presume so, had a scrutineer have a look at it at the weekend, said its sound!
Graham- the wheel is a right bargain, £39 delivered from some company on ebay!
Mieran, Im planning too, I will get some tube, and some more plate, cut a hole out for the struts, bend it around the tower, weld all the way along, tube inbetween, which will give me a brace and harness bar in one

Will need a cage, plumbed fire extingusher, kill switch and rain light for circuit racing. Although not all series check, you do need FIA seats and harnesses (which mine are )
