just looked at the box and noticed it says europe

on my receipt it says 'exempt from 30 day guarantee' so would they not accept it if i took it back? or could i just lie and say it didn't work?

If you say it doesn't work won't they just replace it with another exactly the same?

Is it still boxed and sealed?

just take it back and say you brought it for someone but they already have one or something like that.

No, he bought a new one as he wanted a European one, before realising his old one was European

If it's still sealed, you have a chance. If it's been opened, not a chance IMO. Even if it's damaged, they'll only replace it. You are not entitled to a refund due to copyright laws involving the software on the device, i.e. the maps.

I bought a item a few years ago which said the same on the receipt, I took it back and said that the HDMI port didn't work, and asked for a refund as i'd bought another, you could blag them and say it couldn't find a signal I suppose? say you tried to use it when out and it didn't work so you bought another.

will try that out tomorrow liam and report back.

remember the other half done it with a camera last year.

i had to open the packaging otherwise i wouldn't have known it was ''faulty''

will just use the excuse of not being able to find signal and needed it urgently for a trip and because it didn't work i had to go buy another.

read a few reviews on the XXL on amazon and it seems that it freezes a lot.

i actually thought i was pressing the touchscreen wrong as it was very slow to respond so will go in tomorrow and use that as an excuse.

You lot worry about returns excuses way too much. The teenager behind the till won't care if it works or if it doesn't.

I know because I used to be the teenager. It's far less hassle to give someone their money back than to start arguing

i just feel like a right dodgy sod standing there mumbling my excuse to them tbh.

just checked their website:

If you bring it back to us within 30 days with your proof of purchase, we'll give you a
replacement or a refund.

only if there is a fault though. so make one up and bam, refund

cheers.

i also used to be that teenager, but i wasnt shit at my job. i wouldnt be giving you a refund. when you received it the person at the collection point should have opened it infront of you anyway so the seal would be broken

Didnt open it, just gave it to me. Probably because they called my number then made me wait 10 mins while they found it.

I've never in my life had anything opened at the collection point in Argos, why would they do that?

Me neither , he'd still have gotten it back. I'd have took it home then found a 'fault'
