It really annoys me that people bid on items days before they are due to end......

IMO its either a complete thicko or someone the seller knows bidding it up....

Now I know maybe a few hours before the auction ends if your going out you maybe stick in your max bid as you wont be about for it finishing just incase you get lucky, but why would you bid days before it ending

I'm glad its not just me who has noticed this, i think they're fucking idiots for doing it. they want the item so bid early to pay over the top for it, confuses me!

i expect its auto bidding, i.e someone sticks a bid on of £50 but ebay bids up for them, whats the point in waiting till the item finishes, if you want it and you are willing to spend a certain amount, you might as well bid now and let it auto bid for you

That can back fire and you end up paying more than it is worth just because you are determined to win the item!

No because you only bid what you are willing to pay? there is no way it can backfire?

I sometimes bid early, sometimes works! I think that if someone sees an item up fairly high early on they will think it will go for lots so won't bid.

If you stick in your max price then it proxy bids for you. Works ok for some stuff, I think that for certain items people are wasting their time setting an auction to run for a week however. They could get a decent price for stuff in a day or even 12 hours.

No, as you put a max amount in so that's all you can pay.

Auto bidding can be a cunt if someone bags a bid just below your max, obv you outbid them, then they don't bid again. But still you put in what your willing to pay
