I'm in need of a new TV for my new flat, only really consider Sony. What's good in a TV now? They all seem to be LCD, backlit and 3D, is it worth getting those? I found the below on Comet and found it elsewhere for £600 (budget is probs around £6-700) and seems to tick all the boxes, is it good? What would I need to get 3D up and running? I'd have Sky HD so therefore Sky 3D too...

I've got the same tv. You need the infrared transmitter bar and a set of the glasses, comet will do a 3D pack with a monster 3D hdmi cable, monster power management set ( has inputs for cleaning up signal from your aerial ) and the stuff you need to go 3D. Might take a bit of setting up, and the glasses can be a little awkward at first

Why does it have to be a sony? Things change! Go to comet and watch all the TV's on display then use Revoo.co.uk to help make your choice.

Everything we've had in our house made by Sony has broken
My LG TV has been fantastic. Curry's price matched too.

I have the first one you posted - great TV.
Difference between first one you posted and the second one you posted is that the first one has a monolithic design but the second one has slightly better features (I forget the exact features it has over the first one).
The monolithic design looks awesome so I would go for the first one TBH.

3D is shit. There is next to nothing for 3D BluRays, and after a while watching the Sky 3D channels give you sore eyes, headaches, and you look like a twat.
You better off spending money on amazing picture quality than gimmicks
