The Vectra's used the F40 gearbox and not the M32 that has the problems.

I've got a facelift one and I'm really surprised with it, just a good car in general, nice to drive, doesn't handle that bad for a barge.

Ive got a pre-face Vectra C and i also agree its a good car to drive and generally a nice place to be.

Its no hot hatch in the corners, but its also worlds ahead of the Vectra B.For a big tank,it dosn't wallow about in the corners. It stays pretty firm and dosn't roll all over the place.

I owned a vec c preface lovely car till it was stolen
There is alot to watch out for with the cdti engines the 1.7's eat turbos the 1.9's all ssuffer with faulty egr valves the 150bhp the swirl valves break (big bill) all suffer with rattling dmf's the third injector wiring is another common fault ....
I dont think id buy another even if i could afford to insure one after mine being stolen... Lovely to drive and made mine look really nice but repair costs were very high for known faults that vauxhall wont help towards even tho its there common faults...
Oh amd stay away from the AUTO box there useless and highly likely to break

Can the swirl flaps be removed like on BMW's? Also, injecotr wiring, what are simptoms? Not running on one cylinder at all or something worse? Can DMF be changed to Solid mass Flywheel at all?

Face-lift needs the XP front,pre-face needs the SRi/late Sxi/Gsi front.

Its more of a rubber mallet bangy noise than a metalic noise.

With the boot open, and sitting on it bouncing up and down at that side i can hear it pretty loud.

Good shout though, will look into that too just incase.

Ive heard a few have problems with the rear shocks packing up and snapping springs.

Im considering a vectra c gsi for my next car, they are surprisingly cheap.

Aye a googled it yesterday and it brought back quite a few possibilities.lol.

C Gsi's are a proper bargain. They took a massive hit last year and are holding price just now.Still alot of car for not alot of money.

Thats not cheap.

Can pick up a 2.2 Dti SRi with less miles, better trim/bumpers etc for around £1500.

Thats cheap.Even better if its an SRi or Sxi.

I just picked up a 2004 Sxi 2.2 Direct and it cost me alot more than that. Its a late spec with the Sri/Gsi kit and has the twin exhausts like the Gsi.Only thing i hate about it is the tiny 16s with chunky tyres but thats easy sorted.

With it being the Direct Injection as opposed to the earlier non-direct,it has more power, more torque and costs £30 less to tax.

The difference in power is noticeable too.Its not fast, but once on the move it pulls well.

When i was looking for 1 2weeks ago,i found a 2004 pre-face 1.9 CDTi SRi at the auctions in Glasgow. Was a trade in from a main dealer.74k with FSH and he only wanted £1900 to sell outside the auction.Private sale it would have been a £3k+ car.Sadly couldn't up my budget anymore. Was gutted.

You didnt say that though.

Plus they 2.0DTi lumps were in vaux vans and seemed fine.
