1.4 16v to a 1.6 16v, did it with help from a mechanic friend, yes it felt better knowing it was my own build in a way, alot simpler than i first thought to do

1.0 12v to 1.6 16v I learnt so much from doing it, I didnt have a clue when I started it so I relied on my dad a lot to help me. Feel much more confident for next time now though.

see ive rebuilt old rover engines on a bench when i was at college and it didn't seem too hard even though we delibratly put half arsed effort into it as some parts were missing due to being it raped many times before us
i'd love to do a v6 into a B but think i'd be biting off more than i could chew

My Corsa 1.6 16v to a 2.0 16v
I had help from Lisa and Larance P16VER and Dave France (Fearless Motorsport). Well they did most of it showing me as they went.
That was 2002 and not looked back since.
I owe them for where i am today.
Not spoken to Lisa or Larance in years

I wouldn't do a v6 as a first conversion. Something off the shelf like a x16xe or a 20XE would be best to start with IMO. You do learn so much from it.
I'm doing chris's 1.8 conversion next weekend and he is going to learn so much.

Why dont you try the x18xe1? You can buy a vectra with it in so can check all the history etc. It uses the same mounts, hubs, gearbox etc etc that your 16xe uses. Probably the easiest conversion you could do, be good for a beginning/someone wanting to learn.

Had mine converted from a 1.2 8v to 1.6 16v by a local lad felt great once all fitted but dont think id go through another conversion.
Dont get me wrong there good if you get a healthy engine & all goes right but can work out very exspensive (money pit)
If you want a quicker car buy one, would work out more reliable & cheaper in the long run.

First was x16xe to a c20xe, second was a 1.2 16v to a 1.8 16v, would do a 1.8 any day piss easy to do.

MY 1st build was a c20let into a corsa gsi shell.
Had only ever changed a spark plug before doing the build. grab a haynes and get stuck in, take loads of photos etc aswel.
Instead of buying a c20let that i could drop in, i decided to buy a complete calibra, remove the engine from that and then rebuild it before fitting into the corsa.
I was very nervous about starting it for the 1st time but was 100% spot on.
Went like fuck aswell

No difference the post97 8v shell have the same mounting points as the 16v so the engine dropped straight in.
