Start my new job on monday and the dress code for the 1st day is smart/casual.

what shall i wear?

Jeans or trouser, shirt or polo?

I just started this monday and went like this, everyone else had jeans and t-shirts on so next day I just went the same!

i went to a job interview once wearing a black hoody (hood up) and scratty bottoms with hot rock holes in and got the job

if i knew i was going to get interviewed striate away, i would of made some effort but i was just job hunting and they interviewed there and then

stuck it out for over a year too

what industry? should at the very leats wear shirt and pressed trousers. if its a prof org then a suiot and tie would be appropriate but if its media, you may get fired lol

Suit jacket, shirt, tie, beach shorts and flip flops. The phrase smart casual is an oxymoron and people should stop saying it

I have no idea why that phrase annoys me but it does

smart casual isnt an oxymoron really, its sayign wear causal but smarter causual not footy shirt and old shorts. IMO

first day attire, black trousers, long sleeve shirt, stick a tie in your car just in case, better to be safe than sorry adn in all honesty, trousers and open neck shirt is smart/casual office wear anyway IMO
