Pretty pissed off, went to get my tyres changed. Went back an hour later and found -

Thank fook i took pictures of them all before i went in. The manager said to drop off the car and he will get it sorted out for me. I think he thought i was being funny with him tbh

The others could kinda do with a refurb, so not sure wether to ask him to get them all done, or ill get them all done and charge him for that 1

Must have been an old machine as all new machines have plastic guides.

Do him for all of them, probably charged you too much for fitting anyway as most places do.

In all the garages i've worked in theyve never had plastic guides on them, usually just the cheapest shitty machines we had

Even if they dont though you can set the arm of the wheel to avoid this happening, try to get them to paint all 4 mate

Not sure how id get him to do them all though. One option would be to get him to do the 1, then say it doesn't match.
Or maybe try to blag that they are a custom colour

Yeah, although the arm with the guide for the leaver can still damage the wheel when pushed down with the lever. A novice may leave a wheel weight on and drag it around the wheel for instance, seen that so many times.

Get it agreed that you'll get it refurbished and you'll send him the invoice.

Speak to the refurb company and ask them to do an invoice for just the one wheel to him, and one for you for all 4.

this happened to me with my integra, despite having a plastic guide, it took about an inch of paint off on each wheel. The paint had been on for a year but must have been really soft, it just came away. i ended uponly paying for 2 tyres, but received 4 tyres and 4 wheel alignment as a sorry from the manager

Think thats what he was getting at.

TBH they shagged one wheel and not the others although its a pain these things happen and thats whats wrong with this country people taking the piss and claiming for all of them to be re done etc

if hes only damaged one of the wheels why are you trying to get all four done at his expense? I'd get it fixed yourself then give him the bill for it as he might get it done on the cheap if you let him sort it.

Yeh, sorry to sound like a cnut, but it's a bit out of order to try and get them to pay for all 4 when they damaged 1. Yes they quite rightly should pay to sort that 1, but not the other 3!

Only thing in your favour is that really you should get both on the 1 side refurbished to ensure the colour match that side looks ok - 1 on it's own will almost definitely be a slightly different shade if not.

atleast youve learnt a lesson - dont take your wheels to have tyres fitted at a shit garage with clearly incompitent and probably polish/latvian staff like most of my local tyre places i always pay extra to go somewhere i know wont fudge my wheels up

Happened with my TT wheels, all 4 scuffed with a tyre bar.

Played hell, after a bit of arguing they accepted was them and I either got all 4 repaired or money off next Tyres if I went back to them.

Oh and for the record, I made the mistake of getting non runflats fitted to my Mini for cash as they were the only place anywhere near me who would eventually fit them to my runflat wheels. They annihilated my wheels. Not a lot I could do about it though as they did it for cash etc. Wheels were in need of a refurb anyway, but I still haven't had them done yet!

It happens from time to time.

I'm sure it wasn't done on purpose, sort out what your doing with the manager and get it sorted.

If its only one wheel surely he isn't going to pay for all four wheels..

Just get it done yourself and send him the invoice.

As someone who has fitted shit loads of tyres, mistakes can still happen. No-one intentionally scratches a wheel, no need to be a cunt about it (not saying you are mind)

Yeah i think ill get him to to do the 1, and see how it turns out. Maybe try for the 2 on the same side to get a better match.

It was at HI-Q btw, so not a shoddy back street one somewhere.

I had all four centre caps go missing when I recently had new tyres. When I asked for them back I was told they weren't there in the first place (which they were).

My nut cover remover was also missing. I asked if the guy could look for it and he found it. So they obviously lost my centre caps too. The guy was getting very aggressive so I just left and complained to the head office.

They said I could have the money for some new ones but I had to go back to the garage and claim the cash. I've sent them and email with the copy invoice and requested a cheque.

If i don't receive it I will sue them via moneyclaim online.

I still haven't heard back but will give it a week.

If I were you I'd complain and get them to sort it.
