Brilliant IMO, hopefully more main events will come north of the border so we don't have to travel a 800 mile round trip to Santa Pod, and lets face it Crail isnt up to much. If Knockhill could have had a proper 1/4 built seperate to the actual track they would have closed crail down.

Yeah if it's done to a good standard, which it will have to be, then there's no reason why the major shows couldn't use it too.

Ryan was telling us about this when we were up for SCS. I think it's an American investor chucking a load of money at it so it should be decent and if it is then it can only be a good thing, as Danny said it's an opportunity to get a lot more things going on up there rather than everyone having to trek down here just to go to a show.

It would have made more sense building it closer to the M74 motorway near Glasgow that way its easily reached by everyone from both the major cities and those south of the border. Anythings bound to be better than crail and even tho its even further out loads of people make the journey to it so it'll be a winner.

Like Danny says having it all at knockhill would be ideal as well.

Looks like a good idea but i doubt it will really take off.

For a start its not very central.Thats why Crail tends to work.People put up with it because its not miles away.

That place looks handy for people from Glasgow.

Crails far from central. Remember if it's going to make it it needs to be easy for the rest of the uk to get to and as it's closer to the M74 than crail it should work out.

Would have been loads better more in the middle tho.

Looking at a map of Scotland, Crail is more central than that place.

Its also alot further away for people from up north and Edinburgh etc.

Im maybe just used to Crail being 25mins away so looking at it from the perspective.

Or even Knockhill which is only 40mins away.

Thats as maybe, but what other option do people from up here have other than crail?

I'd go an extra bit to go to a decent drag strip.

seems allright, crail is so run down no and therem is nowt they can do to fix it, not really into drag strip kinda stuff but if it brings some of the high powered stuff up here to compete a wee road trip wouldn't be an issue as long as it built to a decent standard,

Crail is a joke, no other word for it. The return 'road' back to the start line was just wide enough for a 106 in parts, and even then you had to crawl around them. For the people in the left lane it's almost a 180 degree turn straight away to get to that bit too, so you have to swing over to the right hand lane a bit to get the angle, the whole places is awfully thought out.

I hope it works but have to agree its not in a very good location.... and its car use would be very limited!

Scotland Needs another race track, not just another 1/4mile strip.

I dont think i'd make the 3+hr journey to the place to be honest

crail is a bit rough but because its a listed historic airfield they arent allowed to dig anything up or change the landscape which is a shame as it could be alot better.Still its a nice drive through and theres a bit of everything with decent turn outs, the drift ring and the time attack track.

.... there is fuck all right with Crail too though....

thats the problem.

Its a run down dump. I dont want to see it closed (it will be getting closed & developed soon anyway) but the local council is hardly going to be sympathetic to a minority that want to race on an old airfield (noise/traffic/anti social etc etc in village)

half a chance at what?

There will still be comments about X venue being faster/slow/less acurate etc.

For any worthwhile comparisons you need to compare cars at the same location, same day, same lane etc

PS - the majority of cars that use crail will prob run SLOWER on a purpose laid smooth surface
