Views on these? Seem pretty good, can pick one up for around 3k

Remap gets them to 170bhp for such a light car, must be nippy

Had an fr, liked it, they are quick enough with a remap.

Suspension was far too crashy and the interior isn't put together very well.

A remap will take it to about 160/165 if you want the turbo and clutch/flywheel to last. Drive sensibly and still see 60mpg (I had one, as does my dad we both have calculated figures, not just off the computer)

Chuck some semi decent coilovers and a rear arb and it transforms the car.

Don't agree with the 60mpg, you'll never see that unless all your journeys consist of driving up and down empty motorways.

Does he drive up and down the motorway?

I've had a few 1.9's, PD and non PD, average mileage over them all is about 42mpg.

I average ~48mpg in my non PD 90BHP Bora, giving it some stick with slipping clutch. Best I have seen was 63.5mpg, actual figures, filling up at same station etc...

Im looking at the cupra version to buy then remap, but if the funds dont stretch then one of these will do.

Just worried it wont be quick enough compared to my 182, although i suppose a diesel is completely different to drive right?

Mapped cupra will be quicker than a 182. Mapped 130 is about the same.

My mapped 130 was about the same as the 182's at Oulton Park

I saw 60mpg today, sitting on a single carriageway at 60mph for 30mins. This was from the computer, so probably more like between 55mpg to 60mpg

I still need to get a rarb for mine, dont want to find myself throwing it into corners though to see how it handles and then losing it

It's been remapped got a miltek decat and cat back cupra intake and green filter, its running 185bhp with 341lb/ft torque, on average I get about 40mpg on a very long run I've seen 80mpg and the least I've seen is 32mpg and it also does 155mph and 0-60 in 6.5 secs

Cupra pd160 has different turbo, injectors, map, also has a large fmic and ap racing brakes 312mm brakes,

I sourced some ap's and cupra wheels for mine as the standard brakes on the fr are utter crap

Good cars, remap transforms the way the power is put down and they aren't a slouch.

As said suspension is a bit OTT as standard but £400 will get you some AP's and makes it much more comfortable.

Injectors are NOT different on the Cupra. The 130 and 150/160 engines use the same injectors, the 100s have smaller ones.

But when I have another Mk4, if I just want a nice, quick road car, it will be the TDi Cupra. Coilovers, rear arb, exhaust, stage 2 map, done.
