what sort of speed are you meant to slow down to when you come across a horse in the road?

i've only spooked one once, that was back when i had my nova and i came belting around a bend and was a horse on the other side of the road, i just kept going as braking was pointless. Looked back and the horse was up on its back legs going mad, looked like it stamped on a car bonnet.

usually 10 mph in second on a sideroad or 20 in third passing wide on a main road is the sensible thing to do

If they are considerate and go single file then i slow down and go wide. If they double up i make noise! they should be single file!

That annoys the hell out of me when they do that.
Should that be the same for cyclists aswell? cause they seem to bunch up in twos round near me

Depends on the road and how far in advance I see them as to whether I slow down or not.

Once I was on a twisty road and came round a corner at about 50 and there was a horse, I just carried on going as there was no point in braking by then. I could see her shouting at me. I can't be expected to go round all corners at 10mph in case there is a horse there can I Shouldn't have a horse on the road if it cant cope with vehicles travelling at law abiding speeds.

What would happen if you skidded on some horse shit and had a crash because of it? Would the horse owner be at fault?

I usually just put my foot on the clutch and coast past unless I think I should slow down. Depends on the situation I'm in really but how pikey looking they are

You can argue they have zero emissions though so dont need to pay tax.
