Sarah driving my car today, all of a sudden few clunks sounds like there is something in the boot rolling around.
Pulls over rings me, I'd just got home so drive to meet her down the road. BOTH of my AP coilovers have snapped the piston?
One I could understand but two? Lucky I wasn't taking that tomorrow.
2 years warranty on them so will get them off somehow and get them sent back.

This car is clearly a cut and shut.
One strut failing fair enough, 2 at the same time after all the other problems.
Bought a lemon mate.

Those AP's are shit. My mates got them on his ST fiesta, fitted for a week and one of the shocks blew!
Obviously they have some quality control issues

My AP's were spot on on my Fiesta. Put up with trackdays fine. Mates Polo GTi has them too which also sees abuse. Very strange Ollie

someones gaz shock was leaking on here the other day does that mean gaz are crap.
anyway i think a lot of problems come from people setting them too low then doing numerous track days on them etc. They will be fine at the lowest setting just driving about the road, but will come under a lot more stress on tracks.
IMO ojcs mini at combe looked too low
either that or they werent fitted correctly, the AP's can be a bit confusing which order they need to be assembled at the rears.

Not talkin shit buddy, its just that a few of the lads i no have had problems with them. Although you may be right about them not being fitted correctly as it does seem to be only the rears that have caused problems!

gaz are crap arent they?
But yes - AP coilovers - who they hell are they?
Are you running correct spring rates/lengths for the struts?
were they mounted correctly?
There shouldn't be be any lateral forces on the piston to make it 'snap'
is everything ok with the rear beam/wishbones/hubs (whatever setup this car has)

think the mini has independant at the rear, but does sound like something has moved to cause some sort of lateral force

thinking about it... there obv will be some small lateral movement but the top mount should deal with that (pivot)

They are good coilovers.
It's not too low at all sat in the grass makes it look lower the rear is about 5mm lower than it was on eibachs

too low should be defined by suspension travel not looks
What makes you say they are a good brand of suspension? I'm not saying they are bad.... but i've never heard any glowing reports about them Only time I've really heard about them was on Steves Puma.
Are the piston shafts very thin?
