is this about rewinding/fast forwarding the tape, or about when it somehow unravelled its self and you had to wind the tape back into the cassette?

Nope, Commadore 64 was my first computer.
Insert tape, press enter&play, go for tea, come back and get really fucked off that it had messed up half way though, rewind tape, press enter & play, wait, have to goto bed, pissed off again.
Dont remember much playing of the games, more waiting for the basatrd thing!

It was the other way around, snap the tab off to protect, stick tape over to re-enable writing.
