I normally get a salary review around November... and it got me thinking.
Whats the norm annual pay increase % just now? Are things (the economy in general) a bit better than 09-10, 10-11? I know inflation is quite high and wages arent exactly matching the increase in general living costs!
I had a look back on old salary reviews.... I didnt get a payrise in 09-10, and got about 1.5% in 10-11
07-08 and 08-09 was better

We have ours in January, last year the office average was 2.5% but they took me in and said they were giving me 5% because of excellent performance and a great annual review, which was nice, but it only equated to an extra £600 or so a year unfortunately
Still, better than nothing! But we don't get bonuses at any time for anything

When I was an employee (construction) may hourly rate was the same from 07-10. Thing is from 02-07 it doubled, we were getting £1ph rises every 6-12 months because of a perceived labour shortage. Obviously this was unsustainable but those of us with a bit of intelligence weren't complaining when it stagnated as we already knew they were pretty high.

Well in theory it should match inflation. I think ours will be 2.5% this year which will be about 520 less tax and ni across the year better than nothing

Depends what industry your in, what sort of person you are, how many hours you do etc.
I wouldnt say theres any average, but they're will most likely be an industry average.

I need a payrise to keep them running!
I.e its costs much more to run cars, have a car related hobby etc... never mind just live and pay taxes these days. Wages 'should' follow.... in an ideal world.
