Was out with a few friends a couple of weeks back and they were talking about haloween costumes and what they would be going as. i wasnt really paying much attention to what they were saying as id just peeled a parking ticket off my car when i went for smoke and i was reading through it. anyway, someone asked me what i would be dressing as, and the first thought in my head was peado-bear. I wasnt going to take it seriously untill my girlfriend bet me £10 that i wouldnt do it.
bitch better go to the bank.
if your relatively new to the internet... this is peado bear
so i went to the card shop and bought a large balloon, started to cover it with paper mache.
its now near enough covered with last years yellow pages
i roughly marked out a hole for my head to go in. i made it wide on purpous as i want the head to sit quite sunken on my shoulders.
then went at it with a scalpel ( the brown on my hand is melted chocolate btw )
tadaa
the balloon mostly peeled itself off the inside, just a few bits left behind
then marked up and cut out some grooves for my shoulders
kept hold of the cut outs as they will make good templates for the ears
next task is to cover it and make a suit using this fur fabric

This needs to look exactly like it, otherwise you'll just look like a bear.
99% of people will just think you are a bear anyway.

quite a few of the attempts ive seen look fairly close, the only real fault i can see with them is the head is too tall and rounded whereas it needs to be more dome shaped.
i think i could get it close by moulding a chickenwire frame over the top

just stick a swtich on so to turn off and on and use a battry
see (i no iused masking tap tho celeotape stuck to my hair on the deadmau5 and maskign tape didnt :L
they dnt look that great but make such a difference! :L
seen it on the LED deadmau5 head (his one off his fb pics) thought made since to give it ago

Small update.
after reading up on making these types of costume before, something that was mentioned was cooling. aswell as M4RSH4LL mentioning it on here. so i thought it wouldnt be such a bad idea to fit one.
so i went and got some supplys
built it up and tested it. i left the conectors on the fans so it would be easyer to connect inside the head instead of messing about soldering inside
The battery pack is 8 x 1.5v batterys ( 12v ) with the fans wired in parralel. ftted a switch to the earth side so i dont kill the battery in an hour or 2.
Traced around the fan housing
they are push fitted for now but will be cable tied in place when the material goes on
I'll need to tape the battery pack in somwhere (possibly between the fans for balance and run the switch to somewhere easy to access
The ears will cover the fans and act as inlet ducts
Thats all for now, will be making the shoulder and covering with material over the weekend

u do no u cant cover either side of the vans? ( test it ) cover it with ur hand with ur head in it and have it open .. it needs both sides open to vent ... if u cover that with the brown material ur not gonna get as good a cooling systerm ..( mine sits about an inch off the box to let the air move freely just saying incase u put them in for nothing

yeah i know, it wont be covered. the fans are drawing cool air in. the ears will arch over the top of the fan and will have a back that wraps round and over the fan onto the arch. that will make an air duct (if you imagine a cats ear, sortof like that )

If you get a three position double pole switch you may be able to wire them in parallel in one position for full speed and series in the other position for half speed on each of them.
Or rewire the battery connector so you have 3v at twice the current instead of 6v which won't last as long.

so today i went about fitting the coller to give the head shape and then fit the material.
made the coller out of wire-mesh , folded in a corigated style to make it slightly shorter at the top, needed 2 strips to wrap round so cabletied them together
then fitted the material, sewed up the back and cut out the holes for the fans, then tucked them in. they sit nice and snug now
now i need to make the ears and facial features
also mounted the switch just under my chin for easy access
