i live in uni halls and the water out of the hot tap stinks really bad and makes me feel a bit sick, ive reported it to the halls manager weeks ago and fuck all has been done about it. everyone ive asked has said its the same and our washing machines are pretty old so theyre hot water fed and unless you use shit loads of powder/liquid your clothes come out smelling stale.
is there a way to report this to the council or something? surely its a health and safety breach or something?

I didn't think people at uni washed therefore it shouldn't be a problem . Or get a new washer, they changed from hot water fed in the 90s

Its probably got a huge cold water tank in the building for the heating and a dead rat is in it de-composing.

we have a shared laundry room, theyd be fine if the water didnt smell. i doutb they want to chang a load of industrial washers. how do i go about getting it tested?

Do you have an Accommodation Officer at Uni or someone with in your Student Union that can advise you on this?

I am sure Uni Halls have to meet various legislation's etc.

i think we've got an accomodation officer, i think i read their name somewhere in all my tenancy stuff. i'll go investigate that tomorrow if thats the best next step?

i suggested to them that there may be something in the tank, they just sent the caretaker to come and put some drain unblocker in my bathroom

This firm is in Formby and tests water for alsorts, if you wanted to get your own sample done it might be worth giving them a ring? Brodex

I'd tell them that's not good enough. The problem isn't with waste water FFS what good is sticking drain unblocker down the sink/bath tub or whatever going to do?
