Not fussed for performance cars etc.
Had a quote FC, £10k limit, upto ins group 17 (old way, CTR, Clio Sport's etc)
£2,700, doesnt seem bad but i dont wanna pay that
£5k limit will do me i think.

They told me they wouldn't cover me because I don't do enough work.

do you guys have trade insurance so you can just drive any cars or do you guys have trade so you can fix cars and drive them or buy cars and sell them? i was thinking wouldnt it be cheaper if for example a one of my friends got trade insurance and just put me on it, and i payed half?
meaning we could drive almost any car, and own more expensive than we could usualy afford?
or am i thinking about this the complete wrong way?

Your thinking is correct but they'll probably not cover you in that case.
You need to be properly in partnership and all registered up properly.

so you need like a vat number and things like that?
obviously i wasnt going to do it anyways tbh was just always a thought
also, with trade insurance, do you get trade plates with it or is that another thing entirely?
sorry for the questions, never had trade explained to me before haha

No trade plates are a different thing. With the insurance the only difference is you get a log in to the MID system so you can add cars to it so you don't get stopped.

Does it increase massively when you get a higher limit? 7k and 10k limit misses out an awful lot of cars

Im getting mine through a company called peacocks. It's about £1150 full comp and up to £7k and only 6 permanent cars on it.
Remember though if you write something off most of them will only pay you a trade price so wont get a lot.

Might look into this again as I'm paying 1200 on the van for commercial use.
One that covers 7.5t would be good too

I just call up give the reg & make/model, usually takes less than 2 minutes including going through the automated welcome.
