Well after 2 1/2 years I put the car back on the rollers to see how much power it's lost lol.

Since it was last on it made 269bhp/266lbft at Star Performance

This is what it made today at Performance HQ (the figures at ATW). Russ Paton was the operator (one of the best in the business IMO) and told me a whole bunch of stuff I didn't understand lol. I now know that the injectors maxing out and need to sort this before I fit the tip and induction kit.

Guys, ATW figures The thing is, I don't quite understand what he was telling me, but something about the size of the rollers themselves, being a bit smaller than normal, produce greater losses than others or some shit

It's at the wheels figures guys lol.

It's about 260bhp and the same torque so only lost about 9bhp which I'm pretty chuffed with.

That's good man Peak figures wasn't my intentions today anyway, I wanted a bench mark. I'll be going back to Russ soon to get a tweak to the map as it seems to be peaking out at 0.5bar when it could be doing more!

Mine made 138.6 atw yesterday on the same rollers.
Think it is the same russ, had a fair few evos sitting there.

Same Russ.

The Evo was in the workshop, along with about another 5 Evo's. Looks a serious bit of kit.

1 of the Evo's was for sale. Think it was an 07 plate, whichever model that is. 690bhp, for 20k.

Was it a hub dyno?

The rollers are smaller or something which produces a bigger gap in the figures between the fly and wheels.
At least that's how I understood it. Probably wrong though.

I can't comment on the accuracy of the Dyno etc, but i do know that the Red FN2 that ran 1st and made around 220bhp @ the fly, got owned by Scott's EP3 and my MR2 on the Quarry road.

So it wasn't a hub dyno. Wonder why they only gave you a wbhp figure.

Not a hub dyno.

And not un-common for them to not give a fwhp figure. Quite alot of places only do atw figures. Last time i heard, they were new rollers and they didn't have the software or something for fwhp figures. But that was a while ago so not sure.

The guy seemed to be pretty clued up though.

I just wondered where they had been given the est for transmission losses as that seems very high (35%) whereas i always worked off 15% and we cant suggest the roller had been setup differently effecting drag as there was never a fly bhp provided by the company. See mine made 139 at the wheels adding 15% was 160 which is right for my supporting mods. End of the day though its the whp that is important as that's what's going to the road.

doubt it tbh.

my focus figure were 253bhp at the fly, 202 bhp at the wheels.

edit: actuall may have been 212bhp at the wheels, so even less of a gap.

232bhp is what the online calculators say.

Perhaps your MAF needs cleaning/replacing?

He says its about a 60bhp loss with this dyno.

If you know who Russ Paton is you'll know that his word is good enough for almost everyone in the tuning world lol

I wish I had actually listened to what he was saying about the transmission losses so I could actually make it sound reasonable The actual rollers themselves (the barrels on which the wheels run) were smaller, so had a smaller rolling radius than other dynos, hence creating a bigger gap? He explained it all to me before a single car went on it, and everyone's ATW figure seemed low, but on the calculations he was making for the ATF figure, it all balanced out oddly. Like, I made 207bhp ATW, but 277bhp ATF seemingly When on another dyno recently with different rollers I had 223bhp ATW but 272 ATF's. I need to find ou what he was saying

But all in all, I'm not complaining. Russ was fucking brilliant with us. As was his team. Craig's VXR was running dangerously lean at top end on Stage 3, so Russ flashed the standard map back on it and tested it at the end to find out it was running much safer. Also, one of my mates wheels had a bolt in it and obviously couldn't run, so they took it off, took the bolt out and repaired it for fuckall and put it on. The service was second to none.
