aye seans thread is a beast, love it, i'd eat my dinner out that bay
basically im just looking for some ideas on tidying up my engine bay but on a budget, as ever.
this was when i got her
and this is the most recent...
...but its currently got no plastic engine cover on and the cam covers primed, also new ht leads that are grey
iv polished this to go on
im just looking for some more ideas to clean it up abit (cheap stuff to put on my crimbo list really)
what colour should i paint the cam cover or should i polish that up too....?
wiring is an issue i know

Theres lots of simple bits you can do to transform and engine bay, and its very cheap.
- Take bits and bob off that you're confident doing. Hot soapy water, degreaser and a solvent cleaner on real tough muck (not on rubber hoses though)
- Get some cable tidy off eBay. Comes in lots of sizes to run cables, wires, looms etc. Cut it to length and cover up untidy wires, cable tie it up. Looks very neat.
- Get some elbow grease in and around the bay itself. Polish up slam panel, inner wings etc.
- Have a go a wrapping/painting some bits. If you're an amature at wrapping, try wrapping flat plastic items (fuse cover etc.) This will transform and accent the bay.
- After you have done the hard work, give it a light dust with some bull shit spray (silicone spray) when at shows or meets. It'll hide uneven marks on black hoses etc.
Hope that helps

yes it does help a bit, cheers
already had the header tank in the dishwasher and cleaned a few petty bits here and there
wiring is my let down. tidied a few little bits up here and there like when the fan belt worn through the headlight wires but i made it worse in other areas such as fitting the manual fan, i keep telling myself im going to get a whole new and uncut loom and sort it all but i hate doing wiring tbh, something always breaks lol
oh and i plan on getting a whole new front panel as its had a front end shunt at some point in its poor life... thats why i have the bonnet pins in

New slam panel is a good choice. This was my turbo when first fitted:
Looks shit. After a few of my man hours (granted a few quid too) it looked much nicer:
Hoses make a big difference. Oh and replace as many rusty screws/ bolts as you can.

You know mine.
I done all cheap simple stuff, TBF I had the engine out so was a lot easier.
Remove un-needed vacuums, Move the throttle cable down the back of the inlet, Run the thermostat wiring under the cover, although If your not keeping that just make it look nicer.
Wiring is a hard one TBH.
