Getting my parents to buy me one for Xmas as I only have the Halfords jack at the moment and it's a pain to be honest. I have to drive on bits of wood to get the jack under and because it's not flat it's not ideal for my M3 as the jacking points are flat and I don't want it to mark it.

I am looking for something like this: http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B002QO8E7E or even if people say that one is good I'll pick that - it looks decent & it's lightweight.

Price limit is £100.

Wrighty it looks great for low cars, but 42kg weight? Or have I read that wrong?

42kg sounds a bit heavy although that one in the pic doesn't look alu.

That does look like the costco one, holds 2 ton, that should cover most cars.

I've got a 3 ton costco one and it's heavy as fuck.

yeah probably 42kg but how many times you gonna bench press a trolly jack? its steel mate lifts 3 tons, worth spending the extra 30 quid on anyway as like mike56gte said...the small ally ones just break

Ive got a 3 ton sealey jack and it is easily 42kg, but it doesn't really matter when all you do is wheel it about.

A 42kg jack is good if it's only ever used at home but I put mine in the car or take it to Ring etc so it does need to be fairly light. It doesn't get used that much it's just for lifting the car every now & again.

Barnshaw do you have a link to it or a brand?

The unitec one doesn't have the flat base on it like the original one I posted

That's just the kinda thing I need tbh Kenny, really doesn't get used much

Going to try & find something similar to the one I posted but for more than 1.5tons as that's pretty much what the car weighs

Ive had the one you posted for about 3 years now, been fine with my VX220 but I dont use it loads. My mate got one at the same time and he uses it pretty much every weekend on different stuff and it recently popped the seals. He now has that big red one Wrighty posted, its been fine for the short time hes had it but it is ridiculously heavy!

That's good then, what does that VX weigh, 1000kgs? I just need to find a 2 tonne version and I'll be happy with that going by the responses on here. Being heavy isn't really an option my Halfords one is heavy enough when transporting it around to trackdays/Ring

900kgs I think. I would imagine you would be ok with a 1500kg one with occasional use, presumably your not putting the full weight of the car on it with all 4 wheels off the ground

So light it's ridiculous! I'd feel bad wearing clothes when driving it

Yeah true, na won't be the whole weight obviously will it be ok then? Can't actually find a 2 tonne one anywhere & I don't have a Costco card so can't get one from there?

i bought the clarkes one, and as long as you keep the allen key nuts on it tight, its spot on, its been awesome for the corsa, and even lifts the fat git of a supra fine!

Not my budget though I don't want to take the piss with my parents. And they look about £250? Lot of money for something not used much but I do appreciate what you're saying.

Good stuff Jack. I imagine a Supra weighs more than an M3 too.
