As above, does anyone know anyone who's emigrated there? I've read up a little and seems to be one of best places to go. Got a young family and I can't stand this country . I am booking flights for December for two months there and I am going to rent a camper and go look around. Am not a city sort of person but the mrs is. Ideally a small farm or small holding but only a few hrs drive from a city . My kids 6 months old and I can't bear to think of her growing up here. I've thought about it for years but after an event which happened last week it's pushed me over the edge. I thought about oz but I'd prefer to loose the weather go gain living in a country like nz. Anyone ever been on holiday? Views of the place?

Yes my younger cousin. He lasted 6 months and now lives in London doing the same thing he did over there.

Suppose the fact there were a couple of natural disasters whilst he was there didn't help.

Know somebody that went for minimum 2 years, was back within 6 months.

Earthquakes are great.

Depending on what jobs you do I heard they are offering citizenship in a fraction of the time it usually takes. It's something to do with rebuilding after the quakes so I assume it's mostly for tradesmen.

In all seriousness, I know someone who went and came back a month later too.

Spent ages on his last day walking around the work shop shaiking peoples hands saying his good byes. He was a team leader and when he came back he got a job back but not as a tl!

My mate did it, been there about 9 months now I think.

His wife is a midwife so was easier to get in, think you need a trade.

My copywriter moved there from somewhere in Gloucestershire some time ago with his wife, he loves it out there!

Doing very well for themselves too. I'd like to visit NZ but move to Oz (for obvious reasons).

I'll keep wishing

Boi at work went over to NZ but was back after 12 weeks. Said the place he stayed was boring and there wasn't much to keep him there.

Boring bit seems to be a recurring theme tbh.

Workmates main complaint was he had to live in a town 2hrs from anywhere every now and the a donkey pulling a cart would pass and it was rubbish. Work dictated where he lived though. Sisters experience was just an extended holiday going all over.

NZ is good for a holiday, not for living.

The weather is just as shit as the UK's, but the scenery is mind-boggling.

The whole country seems like it's 5 years behind everywhere else. Most restaurants look like a 1980s little chef.

However, if I had to choose, I would live in Auckland as its the most happening place so to speak. Then travel to Queenstown etc for holidays/skiing etc etc

Did I mention how shit the weather was? And the earthquakes in the south island. Lots of those. No thanks.
