any solvent based cleaner will do it; thinners, meths, brake cleaner, sat juice, petrol etc.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Tar and glue remover. Done a few hundred broken renault window regs held up by duct and parcel tape.

Thinners, solvent based cleaner, turps
You'll be hard pushed to taint the glass with any sort of cleaner so just get a hold of the stronger stuff and it'll come off on a cloth
