just doing a bit of research here:
i've always liked the traditional 2 storey house as it seems normal and everyone in my family has that style.
but i also like town houses and like the idea of multi floor living.
bungalows are nice but i would have to get the loft area converted as i'm not sure i could sleep on the ground floor, just seems weird.
whats your choice, and why?

Traditional 2 storey or town house for me. Town house probably just edges it.
I have no interest in bungalows, I've always associated them with the elderly

Are the 2 storey/townhouse detached, semi or terraced? I think in all cases I'd chose the townhouse if the footprint was the same as the 2 storey; extra floors, more space.

i went to view an end of terrace town house last year and was very impressed, but my dad said they don't appeal to as many people so would be difficult to shift on.

Good point, would probably take a detached 2 storey over a town house.

Two of our flats are a converted end of terrace townhouse; ground floor is a single bedroom studio type flat and first floor/attic area is a 2 storey, 1 bedroom flat. Its a good set up for rentals/buy to let as its two sources of income for one mortgage. We've got another mid terrace which is a similar set up but end of terrace would always appeal to me more as they're easier to convert given the side access

Well I've put down bungalow  As I live in a detached bungalow out in the sticks. I've lived in them all from flats, mid terrace, end terrace, semi detached house and bungalow and now a detached bungalow.
Whatever I live in it has to be if possible detached as the difference in noise is amazing and bungalows you soon forget your sleeping downstairs as it where also having had half my family wiped out in a fire due to being trapped upstairs I quite like being able to fall out the window to safety if the worse should happen.
But it's what you make of your home that matters. I've got mates with little small houses/flats that are funking epic inside. The bigger they are the bigger pain they are to clean and maintain IMHO. One bedroom studio above a quadruple garage FTW.

We've got a townhouse, end terrace, (so in theory a semi ) ground floor is kitchen, living room, toilet, second floor main bathroom, big bedroom, studay and small room, top floor is the master bedroom with en suite. Also, seperate garage.
Did look at the ones with garage built into the house, but seemed to waste the advantage of having 3 storeys as it took up most of the ground floor anyway. Also, having the living area on the second floor seems ridiculous as you can't really use the garden to socialise.
So I chose townhouse, but the design we've got.

I'd love a town house. But I'd probably end up getting pissed off with going up and down the stairs a lot

I nearly bought a new town house, was really well laid out and thought handy coming in, shoes off, wash up, upstairs for kitchen and lounge etc but I opened garage to find stairs in there wouldn't have fit a car in so looked at 2 storey houses and so glad we did in end.

I grew up in a bungalow so that's what I prefer. Shame they are either really tiny or mega expensive.

I live in a bungalow, its modern and lovely. You quickly forget about stairs and when staying at others what an inconvenience they are.

Think a big normal detached house pips it for me. I like the look of townhouses but dont like how there terrace builds. Bungelows for the bed wetting generation imo bedrooms are meant to be upstairs!!

we used to live in this end town house
Really enjoyed the town house, but it does get tiring walking from top to bottom!
We had our little one in the town house and she slept on the floor below (top most floor was the master bedroom) and wasnt really keen on that idea.
We recently moved into a new 4 bed detached and actually prefer that.

i would class that as a traditional house imo. it doesn't look like a town house.
this is the style we viewed (was an end terrace though)
