I know there is Monument, Westminster's Tower, St Paul's various towers, Tower Bridge (not very tall though), OXO Tower (think there is a Bar you can go to) and possibly Tower 42 (is this open to the public?); but are there any other decent viewing platforms to see London's skyline?

Never been, but is Primrose Hill worth checking out (apparently you get a reasonable view of London) considering it's a bit far out from central town?

The Obvious one you haven't mentioned would be the Eye?

I went up Monument a few weeks back. Shit me up and i'm not scared of heights, something built so long ago, so tall and surrounded by vibrations from vehicles etc.

Never been up, worth the £3 or what ever it is going up?

Nath - Wonder what the view is like from his £5k p/m apartment?

Primrose Hill is a pretty good view. However, Parliament Hill on the heath will be a bit better as its higher up and not much further away. Will be ok this time of year without as many leaves on the trees.

Monument is decent. 300 and something steps in a circle takes its toll, after about 50 i was dizzy as anything, that probably didnt help when i got to the top.

When you get to the bottom you get given a cool certificate for making it to the top, which is worth the £3 alone

That's a killer. I vowed never to do that again and wait for the lift now no matter how busy it is.

Stairs at Covent Garden's aren't too bad in comparison to waiting for the lifts; nie impossible to use during rush hour.

Dan - Never knew that! Only issue is the weather tomorrow which could scarper heading to Primrose/Parliament Hill.

AlexSXI - Might have to make a visit then.

mwg - Do you need reservations or anything? Or can you just pop up to the viewing gallery?

Monument is a great attraction, but not for the skyline. Not that it's not a great view but wrong position really.

Steps are scary as fuck

The eye is the obvious but best answer. 360o view, doesn't go to fast so you get time to see it. I've done it at day and night. Equally as breath taking.

Oxo tower is quite exclusive IIRC

Do i need to be the sort of person wearing a £3k watch to get into the OXO Tower?

Will try and work Monument into tomorrows plan then. But yea the Eye would have been good but this is all a bit of a last minute trip; will have to book tickets next time.

The entry requirements to the Oxo Tower are a £3k watch and £300 pen.

Actually it's not too bad. If I recall correctly there's a restaurant and a slightly cheaper brasserie.
