I'm pretty sure atleast a couple of people on here have owned one of these?

I've been looking at the F1 Team 225's, they seem to be a fairly good price in my opinion and i've only ever heard good things about their handling.

What are they like to own?
Reliability, running costs etc etc.

Thanks!

Tyres and brakes are expensive.

Other than that pretty cheap considering. Lovely cars. Will depreciate like a lead balloon though so plan carefully how long you want to keep it etc

Coilpacks, window regulators, discs and pads as said.

Ugly and unreliable makes them a big no no for me.

Ticking timebomb....

I've got an orange 225 with lux pack and leather recaros.
Lovely car. Brakes aren't that bad can get pads and discs for 130 quid. Mines has been good so far only had it since October so not had many dry days. Dry days I have had it handles superb.

Go for it

Whoever says these are unreliable is talking out of their arse.

had my 175 sport for about 6 months now, and cant fault it nice too look at comfy to drive, handles well even for being the derv quite surprised at how well it handles .

just the usual fault to watch out for like the others have said

window regulators
boot button full off water
valves on tyre snapping needing a full new tps/valve and re coding

iv only had two out the 3 happen to mine since owning it apart from them small probs i like mine

Had an R26 for a year now. Best car I've owned hands down.

Had no issues with it (touch wood) over 15k miles and it's sitting on 70k at the moment.

Usual french rattles but it's built pretty well, cheap plastics inside let it down a little.

Average 31mpg for daily drives (back lane driving) and get upto 37mpg on motorway mileage.

Usual faults as noted above (luckily not had these myself), previous owner had winodw regulator replaced though. Another thing is the front headlight bulbs, I had to get a garage fit them for me as they are a compelte bitch to get to, have to take the wheel off and fiddle around blindly to find them, nightmare.

If you can stretch to the R26 I would definately recommend it

Fuck off Pads & Discs are wear and tear, if you cant maintain a performance car, dont buy one!

Served my time at Renault and dont think i ever worked on one that had any 'faults' as such.

My mates had his for 2 years, faultless aside the usual wear and tear parts, has full miltek & RS tuning map, goes very well.
He's also recently put the R26 suspension and cup wheels on it, didnt think it could handle any better until i was in it last week.

I think I'd get an R26 F1 as my next car. Can still be used on track but won't cost so much to run. They go like the clappers with a few mods thanks to the lightness and handle the bollocks

Guy in work has one, 56 plate in orange. I really like the look of them, he doesnt have recaros but I still like the interior, actually considered one before my vxr. They look really nice all when polished and are rapid with a few mods, he just has his remapped.

Graham how are you liking the M3 on track? I have a customer who uses his e46 for the sole purpose of track use and has a 535d as a daily driver

Discs crack and the Brembo pad securing pins seize into the caliper and are a nightmare to get out. I work in the service department at Arnold Clark and I've seen a fair few now that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

My boss is a time served Renault Tech and he also wouldn't have one as a gift.

Any 225 Megane I've had experience with has been trouble.

Ahh I wondered how long it'd take for someone to have a go at that.

And what difference does the fact I work at Arnold Clark make to the fact that these Renault Meganes have problems?

They sound the bollocks too! And they're not even expensive to run.

I love it mate. To be honest the more I drive it on the road the more it frustrates me as I don't really think these cars are any good on the road, I can't put my finger why but for going for a blast on the road I seemed to be more capable to drive fast in my Mazda. I think it's because the short ratios in the Mazda meant a blast up to 4th was about 100mph, in the M3 I'll be doing 140 and it just doesn't feel like it

On track I love it though, it is expensive to run though, not ridiculous but enough to make me realise I can't move out whilst I own this car! Hence I said about the Meganes

You need big roads or big spuds to get the M3 wound up.

Thats why i liked the Clio so much. Get in, redline it everywhewre. Was more"fun" because you have to drive it more if that makes sense.

The M3 has ridiculas amounts of grip, but it needs to be revved being N/A, problem is by the time you hit 5k you will have run out of road and already be doing 70
