Handy stuff, I know its been around ages, but not really this advanced and user friendly.

Looking forward to seeing this type of stuff in non family wagons etc.

Natural progression really. Looks smartly done though. Nice and neat.

Annoys me, this.

The only thing wrong with current phones and sat navs in cars is that the data is bad. So get some data connectivity in there and you've solved it.

Nokia have the right idea, maps come in on the fly and are not stored locally so you never get an out of date map. Ditto Google Maps because you don't need to install anything, its all network level.

Compare that to nav CDs which date and need buying, obviously network is better.

Voice control is an interface issue and frankly, I'm safer typing in numbers than trying to use voice dial in my, its shit.

Talking about apps is a complete misnomer, there's already an app running in my nav headunit, an app running in my Bluetooth box, and app controlling the engine, just dumbed down speak for stupid people who think apps are something new.

Sort out the network connectivity, sound. Anything else is just waffle blah blah marketing.

Not saying the network is perfect, that needs work as well. The approach is better though.

Or at least that is how to improve sat nav in cars, give it network.

That article like its all new and woo is erroneous.

Without reading all the article, what the relevence of the iPad in the car...the fact it can now connect to the cars built in wifi?

Wasn't there controversy over this around it all being too distracting from actually using the car for what it was designed for....driving?

Would be good for it to have network, do checks when not in use and download changes to locally stored maps

I'm confused to what is new about this? Voice activation certainly isn't new and a lot of cars come fitted with it, even available on a lot of aftermarket headunits.

Tbf Tesla have got the right idea; big arse touchscreen with decent connectivity for SatNav/radio/streaming content/remote control etc -

So you crash at 10mph and the air bag goes off and the computer calls 999, sound's annoying, guessing you can disable a lot of the options.

Tesla one seems good but it's all for the driver, looks super distracting.

If anyone in my car needs wifi I'll just fire up Joikuspot on my phone.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I'll just wait until a resolution is forced upon me and accept it because I don't know any better.
