be a shame to put an engine with more miles in it

but as far as i am aware 1.0 are annoying to covert to anything, shaun managed it though

Ive been doing some searching, and you need to change the entire dash loom before you can fit the different engine.

This is wrong. No you dont. You need to pull the ecu wires from inside the bay back into the car. Easy.

1.0's are the hardest to do conversions on because most stuff seems to be different.

Really?

so if you cut the ECU plug off from the engine bay, you will be left with the same wires as any other model?

Green - revs
Thick blue/red - fuel

etc?

buy a 1600 lump and rebuild it whilst still using the 12volt...

...or buy a corsa/tigra/astra and make some money back scrapping the shell and selling unneeded bits

astras and some vectras came with the x16xeL wich has a better head i believe but uses different management i think... and they tend not to of been as ragged as the corsas/tigra's

1.2 16v and 12v shell are just as easy to convert just take a little bit longer because you have to pull the wires back in the car like linch said, I has a 23k minter like yours and got board of the 60bhp on raw power so put a eco-shite in and it was the worst thing I ever done I wasn't happy with the power or oil consumption at all wish I had just put a 20xe in now

xe conversion now are about £500 all in. 1.6 youd be looking at maybe £300 for a good engine.

Conversion is just as easy just have to pull the wires through and bridge the relay as linch said. People make it sound so much more hassle then it actually is
