Heavy car for that engine, so extremely slow. But that's not too much of a problem at 17.
Nice place to be inside and should be a comfy ride.

prob be expensive just because its a golf.
take a look at the Suzuki Alto's.
They are nippy, v cheap to insure and at £30 to tax.
I got the mrs on an alto and she doesnt even have her full licence yet for all of £250
Admittedly I am the main driver......

i had a feeling they would want to take me up the bum :/
im not a fan of the alto`s tbh, im not really a fan of any small cars other than the corsa`s and i have a B at the moment.
its a stunning car and i had/have big plans for it but it keeps breaking :/ its costing us a bomb!
so my dad said he wouldnt mind part-ex it to go towards a golf which i would as i really like golfs (modern, safer, reliable etc)
i will have to get some quotes on insurance as thats the only thing making me doubt getting one

i came close to selling mine at one point,. after getting new shocks, brake pads and discs fitted all round, i was told i needed a new raditator! :O but after i decided to spend the money and get it done ive had no problems with mine, thing is you could buy a newer car and still have problems! id say hang on to it for little bit yet if u can afford to cos by the looks of things youve spent quite a bit of money on it already!!

You don't really have much choice at 17, pay a lot of get something insurance friendly. (Group 1 are things like them smart cars, Iq, Aygo, Vw up etc) - expensive to buy.
Golf 1.4 mk4 is only group 9 insurance - 1/50 is how it rated so it's pretty low but no idea how they rate them as a corsa 1.4 sport at group 13 is cheaper then a clio Dci on group 9.
Better bend over for the admiral.

there both much much lighter than the golf aswell!

As soon as you ring an insurance company and say you're a 17 year old lad with a saxo or 106 they'll have your big boy pants down.

5 door 1.4 golf will be cheaper imo.
Might not be the first choice he wants but it shouldn't rape him and they are well built and reliable.

i actualy prefere the 5 door to the 3
i think im just going to wait and see, im going to carry on with my plans for my corsa but if the right golf comes along then i will probs get it, my mums agreed to help me pay insurance so i should be ok there, i would probs go on my dads insurance to 5 door would be great as i like them more and also the lack of speed doesnt matter as i dont want anything fast for my first few cars, but for now i will keep my B and keep on improving it.. i have just been on a right mad one lately, so angry at the car for messing up and taking all my moneys :/
