Right, some of you may know me, for those who dont The names Mark, Always been a Vauxhall Fan, Having Owned 2 Nova's and a Corsa Sri in the past.
I was looking for a run about to use whilst my mk1 Clio has an engine conversion and respray and came across a White Gsi in the for sale section on here up for breaking, it was perfect, after a little conversation i set off to wales on a rescue mission...
Here's what i came back with:
Off the Truck:
Now there's a few issues but the car with the extras it was a bargain and to save a Gsi from the scrappy is always a bonus.
The rear arches needed looking at and there was a few things i wasnt happy with, so i got to work on the rear arches, off came the wheels and here is what i was looking at:
Racing red drums and dirty rotten inner arches...
Sorted the arches and got busy with the underseal, the drum got stripped of the red and out came the primer.
Then the satin Black:
Much cleaner looking if im honest, Also decided to clean up the suspension whilst i was at it:
Before:
After:
Was then time to remove the old exhaust (if you can call it that - what a bodge!) and bumper then get undersealing the rest of the car.
After a good clean up and underseal it then looked like this:
Next up was the Front brakes and lucky enough they had already been converted to 2.0L's Just a shame about the Stevie wonder hammerite paint job:
The Wire wheel soon took care of that...
Then they were masked, Primed and the sprayed with Mazda RX8 Velocity Red :
The Front bumper had a split and was missing the splitter also came with an opel grill. As i want to got OEM with a few extras it had to be changed for a vauxhall badge, was given another bumper from StuFry so the old one along with the grill got removed.
The slam panel has a few surface rust areas aswell as the front end, so i started to clean it up, rust treatment and a splash of paint...
The slam panel will be painted at the same time as the front and rear bumper:
Next up was to replace the exhaust system so a full stainless manifold back system was installed inc de-cat
More pics of the exhaust system later.
Now for a update on the wheels, I love the compomotives, but they were flat and some slight curbing, some of which looked like it had been touched in with a 3" brush
After a rub down:
Then Primer:
The insides where then painted Glacier White:
Then the Faces:
Finally Fitted with the Centre caps painted Velocity Red and Annodised Wheel Bolts
Here's how she stands at the mo...
More to come, Comments Welcome.
